TexasGLS Posted April 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Cruising in a week and weather isn't looking all that great for now. Just curious what everyone does when it rains while cruising?

canner2u Posted April 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2009 I have been veryvery fortunate in that it has never rained while I was on a cruise. However, whether it rains or not there always seems to be something one can do. Depending on ship, there is the aft pool. Hours vary but, there is the library & card room. Bingo Different trivia games Art Auction Tea Time Casino Finding a chair along the Promenade or in the Atrium to people watch, trust me, with as many people there are on board you will see things that will make you laugh, or smile, if you just take the time to watch. Spend time with friends/family Justa quick list of the things I would do while it rained. To me it is much better to be on a ship when it rains, then to be in a hotel at some vacation spot and it is raining. Just my thoughts.
Bunkie103 Posted April 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Depends on a sea day versus a port day. Always travel with rain gear and remember how the weather can change in an hour. A sea day offers the opportunity for a nice afternoon nap which you may need if you've been partying. On a rainy port day we just brave the elements and head out. In Roatan it was rainy and the water was choppy so the kayak excursion was cancelled for my DH, but we grabbed our umbrella and headed into the town for some shopping and to have a look around. Just think of us poor souls back at work and you won't mind the rain. Have a wonderful time.;)
birdie16 Posted April 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2009 We always cruise during hurricane season and have never really had a day spoiled by the rain, it usually clears up for part of the day. I would rather have it rain on a sea day if it has to rain. We love sitting on our balcony watching the stormy water pass by, or pick a lounge and people watch, shop, read a good book, head to the gym or indoor jacuzzi, check out the Capers for activities like trivia, towel animal lessons, etc. Don't worry...rain has never ruined any of our vacations! rhorhorho Posted April 18, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2009 We have been on one cruise when it rained - on a sea day. By our best calculation that's the day we got our youngest:eek: guess you know what we did to pass the time. :D Everyone else in our group obviously found something else to do. One even went ahead and grabbed a lounge chair and worked on her tan...boy golly she had her pick of chairs at 10am. Though she did say there were some wet towels, books, bags, and fruits. Majesty Fan Posted April 19, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 19, 2009 On our last cruise it rained in 3 out of 4 port days and it was soaking rain. There was a cover for the pool so that helped. We did the hot tub thing, played trivia, went to the port and got soaking wet, read some books. Lexi
babymomma Posted April 19, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2009 The first cruise my husband I were on it rained at night. We were at a show when it started. So we did not have to really find much to do for the night.
MrPete Posted April 19, 2009 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2009 There are plenty of overhangs, and some of the ships have pool area covers. There are plenty of people to meet, and activities to explore. Last Caribbean cruise, we had sunshine on all our sea days, and rain in each of our ports. In San Juan, we never even got off the boat. We swam, and then I got a haircut. Never thought I'd do that on a ship.
