Cabo port

From reading other post, Cabo port do not have "dry" port...so a smaller boat will get us into land.

If we book a tour with a private company...do they pick us up at the ship or do we meet them on dry land and go from there?

Thanks

I don't know what a dry port is but there is no cruise dock in Cabo so you will anchor out in the harbor and come to shore in the tender boats. If you are talking about a ship tour, there will usually be a meeting spot on the ship and then you will all leave together on the tenders. If it is a tour later in the day, they may have you meet on the tender dock.

It will say on your tour ticket where you are supposed to meet.

I agree your pictures are fantastic. We were on Princess Saphire last fall - going again in a couple of weeks.

I wish we had seen your pictures last fall - they give a very good feeling of the various ports.

Last fall -they cancelled the Cabo port due to incoming hurricane - so this will be our first time.

We thought we'd just grab a quick boat tour at the terminal - to take us around the arches and then probably drop us off at Medano beach. We are only in port until 1:00 pm.

We like beaches, not heavy drinkers or big shoppers. Is there anything else you would recommend doing in Cabo - I think we're just planning on hanging out at beach for awhile and then walking around exploring the area.

Any specific bar that you like at Medano beach?

We don't spend too much time on Medano, but we do like a view deck above the sand. You have to just walk past the waiters trying to seat you in the sand.

Househunter knows all the great Medano places. I am going to bring the notes below when we go again. Househunter reports the following from an earlier post

"We love the Baja Cantina the best which will be the only one to the right if you come in from the street. It is not crazy loud and has the best food. In order from the Baja Cantina:

Billygans- A fun, loud, crazy place with spring break type games if you like wet t shirt contests etc. Not a place for kids

The Office- just a restaurant, no lounge chairs. Good but overpriced food.

The Mango Deck- very similar to Billygans.

Sandbar- Great place, quiet and peaceful with good food. They have a pedicure and bucket of beer special that is fun!

Tabascos- The last one at the other end from Baja Cantina. All day happy hour and much quieter than Billygans and Mango deck although they do play music and have a fun crew".

We like an elevated view spot in a Medano bar area like the pic below

Cabo has hot dry weather, very hot. If it were us, we would NOT negotiate a bay tour at the time of arrival. We would make a reservation with either pez gato or eco cat, so that we know what the tour cost, time, and adventure would include, and bargaining can be tough on the spot for a nice tour, in the hot sun. A water taxi is another thing. $3/person/1 way to medano.

As for other things to do in Cabo. It depends on what you like, and how much $$ you want to spend. This next trip we will walk around the marina. We often head out of town to tour.

We will also visit world class resorts; we will just walk on in. The easiest resort, if you were going to walk in from port, is the Finesterra. You can see 2 outragious views, and we have many times toured the resort and pool area on our own. Folks here say you can swim and enjoy there for free. In the heat it is brutal to walk anywhere, If you should brave the walk, take the left driveway up, and take the elevator up

Have fun on the Sapphire Princess, a great ship that we will likely go on again soon

There is also a new beach bar, The Medano Beach Club that is getting good reviews. I will be checking it out at the end of June! Just booked a 10 day trip to Cabo even though we will be there for 2 weeks in October too. It is located on the far end, right before Tabascos.
