alprice Posted April 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2009 I read on the Cayman weather website that there is a small craft advisory out for the weekend with 5 - 7 ft waves....I know that sometimes tenders cannot make it into Cayman. Is this the type of situation when they do not get into Cayman? Leaving this weekend and will be there on Monday, Hoping for the best. Thanks! drew sailbum Posted April 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Cruise ships are certainly not "small craft" for the purposes of this advisory. A small craft advisory is a warning to small vessel operators in open seas. Small vessels (such as cruise ship tenders) may be able to operate just fine in near-shore protected waters. The forecast for this weekend is for winds from the east to northeast with rough seas and waves of 5 to 7 feet. With this wind direction, I would expect flat calm seas in the near-shore waters of George Town where the tenders dock.
