JulieS1022 Posted April 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Hi, Can you please let me know how this might work? We have been told that there are 2 'shelf' type beds in the room, but that they're unsuitable for children... Our kids are 3 and 2 and our first cruise is in May. Is this true? Should we consider air-mattresses for them? Thanks, Julie
GORDONCHICK Posted April 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2009 I haven't been on RCCL yet, but we've been sailing with our DS since he was 3.5 and he's two weeks shy of turning 8. At 3.5, he did sleep in the pullman berth. It had a railing that folded up when the bed was pulled down. He did fine, I just made sure one of us was standing behind him when he went up and down the ladder, which he thought was great fun! However, since you have two children that are young, you might want to look into a cabin that has a pull-out sofa. There's really not much room on the floor, especially in inside cabins. there is a family cruising board that may be much more helpful in answering this for you. cruiselife4me Posted April 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Agree - I would be a little worried to have them in a pull down. Some of the outside rooms aren't much more than inside category and may give you more room as well.
sassenach.girl Posted April 28, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Another option is to have your older child sleep on the bottom bunk, and move the mattress from the top bunk to the floor for your youngest. Kylie
