All,

Just an update....it was me who initiated the original thread for this great deal.........so just thought i should give you a quick update

Just back off the Emerald and the OBC at 2$ to the £1 was as Princess explained - you can use it on absolutely eveything. We got a lot of pleasure diveding everything by 2 and even laughed a few times in particular when buying watches / aftershave / perfume / tours and the like from the onboard shops. Anyawy it's great to see so many people taking advantage of this great offer - hope you enjoy it as much as we did - and don't forget to have a little chuckle every now and then when buying anything!!!!!!!

Hi Joe,

thanks for your post.

I also took advantage of your post relating to the $2 - £1 offer, thanks again, we are travelling on Saturday for 2 weeks on the Sea Princess round the Caribbean, have lots of OBC to use up and how I am going to enjoy using it up.

Still not quite sure how you operate the "Casino Conversion" ?

Well my wife ensured there was nothing left;).....however on some of the days when we needed $$$ for the ports we just transferred money from OBC account to the casino account and withdrew it....it's as easy as that.

So we even got two for one on the Islands as well.....even bigger smile...:):):):):)

Casino Conversion.....best thing to do is ask any attendant in the casino to help you move money from you OBC account to a casino account (thats what we did)....takes seconds.....happy days

Enjoy the cruise...

Thanks so much for your updat on the pre-purchase of OBC. It has put our minds at rest that someone has had first hand experience of it once on board. It seems that it is just as Princess have said, you can use for almost anything, and to transfer it to your casino account seems just too easy. Do you have to have pre-registered your cruise card for casino use before you can open the casino account?

Many thanks once again for the update.

I will try to answer the couple of questions above:

Firstly if you want to purchase OBC for someone else going onto the ship - I beleive you will just get what ever the going rate is. The rate given, is the rate when you actually booked your cruise and as you haven't booked the cruise (or so I understand) - you will just get what ever the current rate is (but a might be worth a phone call)

In answer to the OBC to casino account: with your cruise card (everyone gets one), you go into the casino put in one of the many machines (slots / on the bar poker machine) and follow the instruction to move money from your OBC to your casino account (you'll be asked to create a pin No which is then unique to your card) it really is as simple as that - I actually got one of the attendants to do it for me....just to DOUBLE ENSURE i was doing it right. Once he showed me there was no problem. When you go to the 'cash in' window to cash in and get your $$$, they always ask is it winnings and the simple answer to that is YES and they will then hand over the amount you are requesting - by that i mean if you for example had $300 on your casino account and you wanted $200 in cash you will receive $200 and $100 will be left on your casino card. You can transfer money on / off as often as you want.

Hope this answers the questions,

I'm sure will have a great time - relax and enjoy.

How do you get this?

How do you get this?

Easy, phone Princess UK (phone number on your invoice and on their website) and get put through to "pre-purchased gifts for onboard"/Customer Services. Ask them if you qualify for the $2 to the £1 OBC deal. (it all depends when you booked tour cruise and when you sail). If you are lucky to qualify, you buy your OBC with a credit card and the corresponding amount in dollars is applied to your onboard account... then see post #1 in this thread.

Just to confirm above - yest just telephone Princess UK on 0845 3 555 800 then Option 5 and option 2 and tell them you want to purchase OBC credit for your future cruise. Helps if you have your booking ref. no. handy and according to when you booked and when you are going to cruise they will tell you the rate. We have done this for our July cruise and have been given $2 to the £. Its as easy as that - no fuss no bother - you can pay by credit card and as it is classed as a gift by Carnival it is not a cash purchase to your credit card so you do not pay any interest for a cash advance. May be advisable to take a copy of your UK credit card statement with you on your cruise - it will show as 'Carnival House' on the statement.

Karjoe - did you just find it as an OBC on your shipboard accoubnt, or were there like gift vouchers in your cabin when you embarked confirming your purchase?

They were in the form of vouchers lying on the bed when we got to the cabin. Just popped up to the pursers desk to ensure they were on the account - they wern't.....but don't worry, they click on once you've used your cruise card - the desk asked us to return once we had used the card - we did and they were on the account....in fact we didn't go back until the next day......all good no problem.

Enjoy the cruise.....just been busy booking the Ruby for Aug 09....:):):)

On the phone with Princess now. Says they never heard of 2 for 1 prepurchased OBCs.

Two for one FARES, yes, not OBC's....he put me on hold when I told him about this thread and confirmed no such thing.

Maybe this was something available only for European passengers?

I am sure that this offer is only for U.K based passengers who have booked with Princess.co.uk in England. As our rate for the £1 has fallen to $1.42 with the present economic crisis, the fact that we can get $2 for £1 from Princess by purchasing OBC before we sail, makes our spending money go much farther and on a par with last years rates we were getting

Hope this explains

question to those of you taking advantage of this fab offer - when did you book? Given that the exchange rate has been poor for months now and i only booked quite recently - is it worth me ringing?

I have the 2:1 rate. I booked in early Oct 08 and cruise in July 09.:D

HI

When I phoned to take advantage of this offer I was told that it didnt matter when you actually booked the cruise.

The rate was just set by someone and it just varies on what ship and what sailing you do.

So it may be worth you phoning anyway and just see what rate you can get

anything must be better than the $1.42 that you get at home at the moment
