Thanksgiving dinner on ship?

Recommended Posts

My husband and I are going to be on the Empress of the Seas over Thanksgiving.

Does anyone know if they serve thanksgiving dinner aboard the ship?

Is the food any good?

Thanks for the help icon_confused.gif

I don't know about the Empress; but we were on the Navigator this past Thanksgiving, and they served Turkey with all the trimmings. I'm sure that they would do so on all of the ships.

I don't know about Thanksgiving, but we were on the Sovereign last Christmas. For Christmas dinner I had the Oven Roasted Christmas Turkey. The turkey was good but they served it with GARLIC potatoes! Those two just don't go together that well. My wife had the Beef Wellington, that would have gone well with the potatoes ,but did not come with them! Other than this slightly odd twist the food was wonderful.

Depends on what you normally have for Thanksgiving. Yes, they will have turkey - but it will be white meat only. Stuffing is okay, but certainly not like family makes. No sweet potatoes; no cranberry sauce. There will be pumpkin pie.

Great I only like white meat. Never eat cranberry sauce or sweet potatoes. But will I am looking forward to the Thanksgiving apple pie.

My wife and I will be on the Radiance Thanksgiving week also.

We were aboard the Monarch of the Seas last year at Thanksgiving, and although a turkey dinner "with all the trimmings" was served, it wasn't great. I ended up ordering something else that was much better.

There was a scrolled up Thanksgiving Menu tied with a ribbon at each place setting, and the dining room was very festive. People also dressed up more than usual, despite it NOT falling on a formal night.

I thought it was a great way to spend Thanksgiving. So much so, we will be going on the Carnival Pride this year. If you're traveling with a large family, like we did, it was a perfect way to combine a vacation with a holiday! Everyone came away having had a great time - young and old alike!

Don't worry about the food. Our Thanksgiving dinner aboard the Monarch reminded us of those frozen turkey dinners we used to eat as kids. It would have been nice had they served "real" turkey instead of what appeared to be a processed turkey roll. But you get what you get. I didn't have to cook or clean up afterwards and I was very happy with their alternate choice. It would have been my in-laws turn to host Thanksgiving this year. But family members liked our trip last year so much, our family again decided to go on a cruise in 2004!

Good luck!!

Thanks everyone for your responses!!!

It is good to know that if Turkey is not what your looking for, there are other options too!!!

And not having to clean up is great!!!

DH and I were on Explorer last Thanksgiving. Since the majority of our tablemates were "internationals," we decided to try Portofino's that night. While I had a little twinge of longing for our Southern "dressing," it was not enough to stop me from booking NOS this Thanksgiving. In any event,we were THANKFUL to be cruising the beautiful Western Caribbean on an awesome ship.
