Sun Princess asian cruise KL transfer

Recommended Posts

Hi there

We are going on this cruise in July and we are just thinking about our tours.

The ship offers a transfer to KL from the Port in Malaysia, we were wondering though if there are private buses and taxis from the port, or if the Princess ones are the only ones.

Has any one done this trip that can shed some light on any other transfers.

thanks in advance

Hi there,

we have done this trip 3 times, went once to KL with Princess tour...90 minutes up plus 90 mins back by bus. Nice city, lots of shopping. Long trip though!

However..second trip went to Sunway Lagoon Resort complex..taxi outside KL terminal..many taxis there...takes 30 mins to Sunway for a glorious day out...

http://www.sunway.com.my/lagoon/ .....themepark....

world's second largest water theme park..all sorts of activities there, huge wave pools etc, sandy beach and all...small zoo, theme park, plus huge resort hotel, lovely restaurants, bars...all next door to each other...joining a HUGE pyramid shopping centre..with loads of bargains, lovely up market stores...underneath are bowling lanes plus ice skating...you will not see it all in a day..a wonderful day out!!!

It's the place to go in KL.....

Hi there

Wow that looks fantastic, we have teenagers so this might be the spot to go to. The kids arent much into shopping but I am sure that they will enjoy the water park. Can I ask how much the taxi fare is? (approxso that we can get money changed)

thanks in advance

Hi there,

yes, absolutely wonderful for teens - all those water slides and stuff... a great place, and lots for Mum and Dad too!

Taxis lined up outside the terminal..cost was about 60 to 80 Malay ringits each way...about $30 to $35 Aus, each way....

... taxi took 4 passengers, the mini cabs took more - for a few $ more!

Make sure you get the taxi people to explain where you are going, and also the address when you return, the taxis are lined up outside the Pyramid shopping centre, and you need to get back to Port Kelang ship terminal.

Have fun

Thanks S&D for your info I did read all your posts re your cruise last year but now of course can't find the thread, have checked out the Sunway site looks good so can't decide whether to take a tour into KL or try out Sunway. Does the ship put on shuttle buses to the nearest place at all ports on this cruse, or is it just the tours, are wondering particularly about Cambodia and Bangkok, went to Saigon last year so planning to do the shopping thing there.

Hi there,

there are no buses to the city, only Princess tours, ... 90 mins each way from the ship to KL and then back again, a big chunk of 3 hours out of your day..which is why we do Sunway instead! There are of course a long line of taxis there for you to go wherever you want from Port Kelang.

Yes, shopping is great in Ho Chi Mihn, and Thailand too, we always get a good shopping fix there..LOL..:)

Cambodia, ... at the port there is nothing to do or see there, so ...do a tour - but of course, if you have the money the BIG overland tour to Angkor Wat is supposed to be spectacular.

Thanks for your info once again can I just ask a couple more questions?

How many formal nights did you have during the 3 weeks, does princess have informal and casual for the others or just casual?

For Bangkok did you do a tour or can you get taxis to somewhere else rather than do the princess tours.

Do any of the ports have shuttle buses to the nearest town or whatever or is it the case that if you don't have a tour you have to get a taxi or nothing, and are taxis allowed in the docks at ports or do passengers have to get out of the port somehow to find other transport.

We have only been on cruises with P&O Uk recently and as well as tours there is always a free shuttle bus to somewhere even if it is only the nearest shopping centre.

Thank in advance for your help

Cheers, Sheila

Hi again..:)

we had about 4 formal nights, quite dressy too!.hubby had tux, evening gowns for me.. all other nights, casual/semi...not as dressy..maybe pants, nice shirt etc,...

Bangkok is 2 hours away from the port of Laem Chebang...we disembarked, and got a Princess bus up to the hotel in BKK, had 5 days there..Hyatt Erawan Hotel..fabulous.....

... if you are going on from BKK - with the ship, you would

be able to take a tour there , Princess tours here were of a good variation, lots of choices. Many temples and a LOT of great shopping.

Some of the ports there are taxis for hire.... but not everywhere. Sometimes they were lined up just outside the port gates... as I said before..nothing much in Cambodia, we will stay on the ship next time there. ...and in KL..do Sunway..fabulous place.

Have a great cruise..
