Schwerin and Lubeck?

After reading all of Heinblood's fabulously helpful posts on this board we have decided to take the train to Schwerin but now we are thinking of trying to add Lubeck in as well. Doable? We are arriving on the 23rd of May aboard the Century. We are planning a leisurely morning on the ship and then head out to do some sightseeing and don't want to spend a ton of time on the train. Can we get to Schwerin and then if time and desire allows add a trip to Lubeck? What are the options for getting to Schwerin and back versus adding in Lubeck? Thanks so much for your help!!!
