mrsfuzzmo Posted December 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2004 Our last Cruise into Port Canaveral, we docked at 6:00 am. Off the ship at 8:30 am and at the airport by 9:30 am. (Took the ships shuttle as well, but it was DCL, so can't guarantee it with Carnival). Nice thing was, (check if Carnival does this as well,) was that the airlines had people right there at the dock to check you into your flight as well as checking in your luggage! It was wonderful. We grabbed our luggage out of the ships stash, went through customs, walked to the line of busses, found our airline, checked in and our luggage found us back in Milwaukee. It was a great ending to our cruise. If other lines don't do this yet, they should. I don't know if it was Disney or the fact that it was Port Canaveral. Worth checking into. NeedstoCruise Posted December 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2004 I would check with Carnival for their policy on getting off the ship first. We did not use their transfers, so in this area I have no knowledge, but we did not get off the Glory till 11am, and did not get all of our luggage till noon. They may make provisions for their own transfers and the timeframes that you are working with. Did you book your air through Carnival as well? They may be additional insurance. Good luck. Boston6 Posted December 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 6, 2004 On the Glory, if your flight time is before 1pm you exchange your baggage tags at the Pursers Office for early dis-embarkation tags. Then you're the first ones off the ship. Assuming there are no customs issues you will have no problem getting to Orlando for a 12:10 flight. We had a 1pm flight and we were at MCO by 10:30 AM using the Carnival transfer. The biggest hassle at MCO is the huge security line but that too moves faster than one would think. BTW - you have to claim your luggage at Port Canaveral, take it to the bus, and re-check it yourself at the airport. The hands-off baggage transfer was eliminated due to TSA security. Same applies to when you arrive at MCO. You need to claim your suitcases and transfer them to the bus for Port Canaveral. They don't magically appear in your room anymore. You can make it through customs much easier if you hire a porter to carry your suitcases. They seem to find lines that are empty and get you through quickly with a mimimum of effort. Well worth a few $$ per bag.
