natesfirewife Posted December 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2004 Has anyone brought Christmas lights for their cabin or the Balcony? I would think that for the balcony you would have to leave the door open to plug in the lights, but what about inside your cabin? Misty
NancyB84 Posted December 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2004 You can get solar ones for your balcony. I haven't found any (yet) for under $50... but I am still looking. DH tells me to look on e-bay. But, I have a year still to find some!!! You could get the battery operated candles for your room. Good luck and have fun on your holiday cruise whatever you decide to do!!!!

njcruisebunny Posted December 7, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2004 I have battery operated Christmas lights for wreaths that work fine. Take them -- you'll have fun!
jburp Posted December 7, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2004 I brought red white and blue lights for out balcony a few years ago. I brought an extention cord along and left the doors open a crack when we had the lights on. It worked just fine.
lisara Posted December 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2004 I was on the 11/7 sailing of the AOS and I took "fish" lights for my blacony. I had an extension cord and the door does shut with the extension cord still plugged in! Lisara
happy1 Posted December 7, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2004 Due to safety regulations, they often request these be removed. Just an FYI so you aren't disappointed.
wiggin Posted December 8, 2004 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2004 Did you actually get asked to remove yours? Anyone else?

happy1 Posted December 8, 2004 #12 Share Posted December 8, 2004 They asked everyone who had balconies to remove them after the first night. I didn't know if this was "standard procedure" for all cruises but had the same thing happen on Carnival. Perhaps it was due to the navigational conditions. I remember something about it interfering with identification at sea and recall they had to modify the lighting on deck too.
natesfirewife Posted December 8, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted December 8, 2004 Well at least we can put them in our cabin right??
fahywray Posted December 8, 2004 #14 Share Posted December 8, 2004 We were on Vision last Christmas and took lights and a small artifical tree with lights. The only problem we ran into was the outlet shortage. Our cabin steward, Daniel, was great however and checked out an extension cord for us. It looked very nice to have the lights in the cabin for the cruise. We didn't put them on the balcony but we could see the ones inside from the balcony so I never gave it a thought.
