Tulum on your own?

Up front, we have only done Tulum on a land based vacation. The logistics for doing it while on a cruise seem daunting to us. If you choose to do it, book it through the Cruise Line. Too many variables to do it on your own.

First, get off ship, taxi to Ferry Pier, catch the ferry to Playa del Carmen (40 - 45 minutes), catch a bus or rent a car to Tulum (an hour at least), pay to park, tour the ruins (two hours for a quick tour) and reverse. If you miss the bus or the ferry you will risk missing the ship.

If you book with the cruise ship, they will wait for you.
