Non-alcoholic beach day

Hi,

I'm looking for information on just going to a beach for the day, 4 adults. We don't want to buy food, we don't drink, we'll pay an entrance fee if that required, but we just want an inexpensive beach. All the resorts listed seem to be expensive open bar affairs. Can you just use the beach instead? The Chankanab (however it's spelled) is a little pricey at $16 pp, sometimes seems crowded and requires lunch to be bought (we were planning a nice long beach day.) It seems like beaches on the far side from the port are less crowded and free (?) but without hiring a driver for the day could a taxi be arranged for the return trip?

Along the same beach day lines, if we can find a place to bring snacks is there a grocery/convenience store nearby anywhere?
