:) We will be leaving Montreal for Tampa via Newark..My Question is are you treated differently since you are arriving from Canada compared with arriving from Europe? the reason I ask is that should I allow extra before scheduling my connection to Tampa..I know the airlines suggest 1hr layover however, I have never been able to de-plane, go thru immigration,go through customs, re-check my luggage, go thru security, walk to the gate and check in all within a 60minute time frame...thanks in advance for any info...P.S, I know Canada is a foreign country

US CBP is located at the airport in Montreal and you are pre-cleared. The rest of your flight is treated as domestic. Allow more time in Montreal, since you have to take your luggage through US CBP first, then put it on the conveyor belt and then go through Canadian airport security (CATSA).

In fact, because you have been precleared if your flight is cancelled and you have to go out... you actually have to go through Canadian immigration again. Those two getties are considered as if you are in the US.
