Pearls of the Aegean 12th June, who's going????

Recommended Posts

Yeah I think you could be right think we might have the ship to ourselves, not unless everyone thats going is miserable :(!!! Have been on many cruises ( mainly with thomson) but have always done mainly spanish islands so going to greece will make a lovely change. Does the ship dock near to the amenities or are they mainly industrial ports so you have to do the trips?? thanks for your help.

They are all really good stops...Aghios Nikolaos you're right in the town nice to wander, find the inner harbour which is nice to have coffee and cake by, we walked up street on the right hand side to a good market, did a 'train'ride in the afternoon with a good photo stop and trip round the town. There is a beach round the corner to the left when you get off the ship. Kusadasi you're right in town....good duty free area here, hassle from the shopkeepers in town but just say 'no'! You can also walk to Pigeon Island just along on the right for coffee and a wander. (Nice cats/kittens here I remember!) Santorini...you will go by tender to the quay where there is a cable car to the top (best way to go) lots to see up there (we walked down!) Piraeus is a ferry port but you can walk to the Metro station with trains to the Centre of Athens...we have explored Piraeus as well which has shops and a marina. Katakolon...walkable from the ship with some shops and cafes. Corfu...we walked to the Old Town from the ship about half an hour...we had a late flight so had enough time to do it before we left.

Hope this helps...I haven't mentioned the trips obviously Ephesus from kusadasi is popular (we haven't done this yet) Olympia from Katakolon, we did a trip on our first visit to Piraeus which was round the famous sites of Athens and shopping in Plaka. On our first visit to anywhere we usually explore the local town and then take trips on the next visit.!!
