Is it a bad idea to book a cruise w/ Mexico stops??

I really wanted to book our cruise this weekend for Jan. 31st. But with all the talk of them closing ports in Cosumel and Rotan, I am not sure it would be a good idea or not. What happens when they close the ports? Do they send you to another one or give you more sea days? Should I be looking at a Bahama cruise instead? I am a new cruiser, so this is all new to me.

I expect the Mexico ports to be back to normal after mid June. We have traveled to several Mexico ports over and over with no issues.

Plan your cruise based on the ports you would like to see. Changes to ports do happen from time to time, generally due to weather or some other unforseen situation. If time allows Carnival will try to find another port as they are doing under the current situation.

I would rather stay on the ship then get off in the Bahamas.
