What would you choose for your first cruise?

  1. 1. What would you choose for your first cruise?

    • As cheap as possible so that you can upgrade if it's really bad
      4
    • Whatever with a balcony . You need the space, and it's so much bigger than an inside.
      19
    • Suite: if you cant afford it you dont go on a cruise. Anything else is scary.

    • Anything goes! I can sleep strung up to the climbing wall. As long as they'll let me come!

Ooooh!

Now it´s difficult...

Instead of an inside cabin further down as I wanted from the beginning...

We're thinking of a cabin with balcony.

An my TA said that the cabins on 7:th floor is both nice, cheap and good.

Since I have never been on this kind of cruise before I need som advice..

Is it worth it?

An inside cabin will cost me about 2580:-

An a balcony one will cost 3410:-

And if I'm supposed to take the balcony, wich cabin is better?

Is 7048, 7050 and on the other side 7548, 7550 good?

beacouse it looks like the balconys are bigger?

Am I getting to picky here?

******

And tip is included in this price.

Amazing.

No I dont have to carry one's and two's around like I did on my last vacation in Vegas.

I felt like an idiot tipping people to left and right.

We got another view at this in Sweden.

We tip the waiter at a restaurant, always.

Even if the service is bad I still tip but the small so he/she will get the point.

Cab's and bartenders also get tips.

But then its done.No more.

It is a little bit of embaressing taking tip from someone when you are doing the job you were hired for.

But as I say, cab, waiter and bartenders is the only ones in Sweden that gets tips.

So when we forget the one when we are abroad does not mean we are being rude.

We dont know better and we think it's an insult to tip anyone else.:o

***

And.... this is supposed to be our honeymoon,

so I'm trying to plan everything I can ahead...

And we're getting married on the airport since there was so much trouble to get a marriage license that is legal in Sweden.

So no wedding in the Grand Cayman.

But hey, it's not the place, it's the person who I'm getting married to...

*******

I have a tendecy to write a little bit to long. Sorry about it!

Looking forward to this vacation sooooo much!:D

E3's will be obstructed by the lifeboat covers below you on deck 7 so you can't look directly down into the water. If you could get one on the hump you would not have that obstruction. 7600, 7602, 7604,7606. My friends had 7602 on Jewel and it was very nice...

My husband and I have sailed on the Brilliance twice now. Both times we had cabin #7038, which is an E3. We did not have an obstructed balcony. In fact, it was nice and large. We asked our cabin steward for a lounge chair so we could lie out there.

So we had two chairs, a lounge chair and a table and still plenty of room with no obstructions. It was also very close to the one set of elevators and quick and easy getting to the Windjammer above.

Good luck with whatever you decide to to.

Joannanna,

The cabin catagory for 7038 is an E1 in my brochure on the Brilliance.

To the OP,

When looking at the brochure that I have I would take the 7550 over the other cabins if that is the ones that you are choosing from. I have read that the E3 cabins do have to look at the lifeboats below them. If I had to chose between an inside cabin and looking at a lifeboat cover.......... I vote for the balcony.... if the cover bothers you don't look down. After our first balcony cabin we have chosen not to go back inside....... OK, OK, OK..... you guys warned me. My new mantra is don't get a suite.....if RCI upgrades me.......well I am in trouble. Are you reading this RCI?

My family group of 4 couples just got off Radiance & we had cabins 7026, 7030, 7530, 7536 -- all great locations & large balconies: 2/3 of our balcony covered by 8th deck balcony above and 1/3 out in open -- good for sun-bathing & star-gazing!! As another said, close to forward elevators.

Thank you all!

It seems a there is an addiction going on around here?;)

"OK, OK, OK..... you guys warned me. My new mantra is don't get a suite.....if RCI upgrades me.......well I am in trouble.":o

I've seen it all over this board.

Once you get on one of these cruise you'll never go back to ordinary vacations anymore?

Kind of creepy really. *lol*

But I think I will start at the bottom and work my way up so if anyone asks I can honestly say: Yes, I too stayed in that small inside abin in the beginning. But now I've learned my lesson and balcony, balcony, balcony. *LOL*:D

When I get onboard I can always get an upgrade right?

I dont mean by the upgrade fairy but by paying for one...

You are the best!!

Any tip you have will come in handy!

Oh! That is a scary thing.

So, they could be all booked up when I get there?

Oops!

Not liking that. But understanding it!

So... Hmmm... Got a lot of planning to do and on a budget.

But I'm going no matter what and I'll just have to take on an extra job.

Dont want to stand there without spending money ...

My bf just bought a caravan and I'm not really into it so thats why I booked this cruise so that I wont have to spend my honeymoon in a caravan... *LOL*

He paid the caravan so I pay the cruise.

That's why I'm so tight with the money!

But somehow I'm solving this.

Thanx for the advice!!

Best wishes on your forthcoming marriage. As far as cabins go, I would go with the best deal for you. There is plenty of open space and lounge areas on the ship. I prefer a balcony - okay, I would prefer a suite, but that hasn't happened yet - but for the right ship and itinerary I will take an inside. Whatever you choose, it will be a special memory for you. So than I'll take a inside cabin this time.

And let the rest of the money just fly away on the ship or at portcalls.

This will be my testrun since I plan on taking one cruise every three years...

The other two we'll probably travle around in the trailer/camper/caravan.

*lol*

So first- Panama Canal 2005 and then Alaska 2007

But now I'm just thinking of getting to Miami and on to that big ship!!!

I read somewhere on the board about a man who took an nice cabin 1038 I think with a big balcony and so on. Cost him a neat sum...

And after a couple of days the window washer thingie broke down, in front of his balocony!

And they couldn't fix it!

Well, this happens once in a lifetime I know, but better to have no view than paying a lot and then loosing it! *lol*

Poor man!!

I think I would get really upset. But who knows what happens...

Oh, I'm just going round in circles...

But I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3 weeks later...

So I burned my self a bit...

The TA told me to wait with the booking until they could book the airways.

So I did and last weeka I saw the prices had gone up a bit...

So I called and they said, the prices can change as long as you dont have a booking...

Got to be a little bit mad so I called RCCL and booked with them directly instead.

So now I'm one of the cabins on deck 2 for the same price as a cabin with a balcony if I had booked right away...

I have so much to learn... *lol*

But next cruise... I'll book so far in advance as possible!

And now... the amrriage part wont take place on the airport in Stockholm but apparently we can get married in Aruba.

Let's see how that works out...

Since I'm a good planner but a bad follow through.

Have a lovley week!

Sandra, I'm sure that you and your new husband are going to have the most wonderful cruise. You have the right attitude - just go with the flow. I have cruised many times and have yet to have a room with a balcony. We will have a balcony on our upcoming cruise on the Navigator and we are excited for that too. I can honestly say that the cabin was not the biggest and most important part of the cruise for us. (Although we didn't cruise on our honeymoon). There is always so much to do on the ship that you won't find yourself in the cabin all that much. Whatever you do just enjoy it to the fullest. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. :D

Thank you so much for those words!

It makes me feel all fuzzy and warm! *lol*

I'm so excited and what ever happens, I cant be dissapointed 'cus I already read all about things that can go wrong on these boards.

The only thing I would get enoyed about is missing out on a port.

But if there's bad weather, so be it.

So the next cruise would be ALASKA!

I'm already checkning it out so I know whta and when to book.

And save up the money... That is the longtime planning thing...

You have a lovely cruise, and tell me everything about it!
