from a recent Liberty review:

HALF MOON CAY

We awoke about 8 am and it was to the sound of a lot of noise in our room. I believe it was the sound of various doors and such opening to take supplies to the island for the day. Our boat arrived in Half Moon probably around 4 or 5 am, because being in the front of the ship, we were able to hear the noise of the anchor dropping. It was loud, but it was over in a minute. The noises were about the only issue we had with our room, but it is something to keep in mind if you are not a sound sleeper or something like that will keep you from enjoying your trip. For us, it was no big issue.

We got our swim suits on, packed a bag with our carnival beach towels from our room, and headed up to the lido deck for breakfast. We also packed our cooler bag with ice, grabbed a Nalgen bottle full of vodka, and stopped at the juice machine on the deck for a bottle of passion fruit juice. This is what we drank on the island for the day, and it was awesome. The grill by the middle pool had cold cereals, fruit, yogurt, ham, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, French toast, waffles, toast, bagels, milk, juice and coffee. This is the standard fare for the breakfast buffets all week. After breakfast we went to the Venetian Lounge to get our place in line to tender to the shore. They let the people with early shore tours go first, and then they handed out numbers to board the tender boats. We had number 11, and we waited in the lounge for about 30 minutes until we were called to make our way down to deck 0. They had 3 tender boats I believe, and the boarded them fairly quickly, it was about a 5 minute ride to the shore, and then you were in paradise. The beach was bright white and the sand was the softest I have ever seen. It literally looked and felt like table salt. We decided to rent a clamshell on the beach, and this was a $17 fee. You pay for this with your sail and sign card at a yellow shack on the beach, and then you walk down the beach until you find which one you want. At that time, you show your receipt to one of the people that have the last PVC pole that is needed to hold your clamshell up. The set the shell up for you and then the rest of the day is yours. We did not do a tour on Half Moon, so we just hit the beach all day.
