dseres Posted May 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2009 I was wondering if anyone has ever taken a train to Baltimore then to Port for a cruise. I don't know how far the station is from the port, don't know if it would be worth it instead of driving 5 hours and paying to park for a week. Thanks!! Trains along the East Coast can and do run late in the winter. :(

steve4040 Posted May 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 26, 2009 It is on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor which connect Boston, Providence, New Haven, New York City (Penn Station) Newark, Trenton, Philadalphia (30th street station) Wilmington, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. Plus many intermediate stops. If you live near one of these cities, you can get to Baltimore pretty easily. If possible, try to book on the Acela trains. These are Amtrak's high speed trains, and they are more comfortable than regionals. The trains on the NEC are pretty reliable, even in winter. However, like any mode of transportaton, things can go wrong. Trains break down, the catenary gets pulled down, snow clogs switches, etc. So I would recommend traveling to Baltimore the day before, to give yourself piece of mind. If you have more questions, ask. I will try to answer your questions. AndI will keep an eye on this thread for the next day or two
