jhmoore143 Posted May 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2009 it has to do with some abbreviations I see on this board. I know they deal with the family members, but I see a "D" in front of a lot of them, i.e. DH, DW, DD, DS etc. I know BIL and SIL are brother and sister in law as well as MIL - mother in law and I could figure out the DH - husband, DW - wife, DS - Son and DD Daughter . . .but what is the front "D"???? I'm on holiday Posted May 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2009 The "D" usually means Dear...as in Dear Daughter, Dear Husband and so on. :)
temple1 Posted May 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2009 It is just a short cut way to state relationships. D is for Dear. So when I use DH it is for Dear Husband. So it goes from there, Dear Son, Dear Wife, Dear Daughter, Dear Cousin Three times Removed, Dear ExHusband. :D
Arizona Cruz Chic Posted May 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Pretty popular question......the D stands for DEAR or some might say DUMB....depending on the post or person. ;) Welcome to CC. :) ***

w&k Posted May 25, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 25, 2009 Dear, Darling or Damn, take your pick:D According to my Auntie, who was thinking Darling Dog for this very cute mostly mini-doxie. When Auntie passed away, we got DD plus 2 Chihuahuas from my Mom, who had passed the year before. When we were picking up DD & the Chihuahuas from our vet on their first visit and bath, the gal at the desk piped up with "what does DD stand for?" The groomer was just carrying DD out of the back, and promptly answered "Devil Dog!" She did not realize that DD would start crying and howling when separated from the 2 little ones. After that visit, they all went into the bath and dryer together. Thanks for the memory and laugh! Wendy
