Dawn Lunch in Bermuda

You are not allowed to bring food off the ship. I think it's a Bermudian law.

I recommend having a really big breakfast before you disembark, and just wait until dinner. Or come back to the ship for lunch, as it doesn't take long by ferry. (The panini at the Blue Lagoon is surprisingly good and it's fast) The bus drivers can recommend places to buy snacks and sandwiches if you want to picnic.

You can only bring prepackaged (as in the factory not ziplocs) food off the ship, ie crackers, granola bars. People do take sandwiches off the ship but if you are caught, the fines are very high.

The fines are very high AND the Bermudians will turn you in if they see you with ship food. They are very proud of their island and do not want the fragile ecology contaminated. They are also very aware that tourism plays a huge part in their economy but have no problem arresting tourists caught breaking their laws.

Years ago a Club Med type resort opened in St. George, Bermuda up by St. Catherines Beach. Too many of their guests walked around town improperly dressed and breaking town laws. They closed the resort down and left it empty for years rather than allow disruption to the island. At one time Bermuda refused to let Carnival ships dock in Bermuda as they felt they were a "party ship" and would disrupt Bermuda.

As the other poster said, eat a big breakfast or buy local food for lunch. Burgers and fries on the beach run the same price they do on US beaches .

Eating breakfast before you get off the ship is the best idea. Depending on where you go, there are quite a few places around the island to grab something for a snack or light lunch. you can do a sandwich, burgers or snack foods for almost the same cost as you pay at home. Try the Swizzle Inn, reasonable prices and good pub food! And by the way, Bermuda does have some crazy food rules. While in port we could not order grapefruit at breakfast on the ship. It was "banned" in Bermuda that week. Wait staff said last year they would not allow oranges to be served....strange!
