bahoss Posted May 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2009 We are travelling with 2 adutls and 2 kids-ages 10 and 8. Does anyone have a shore excursion that they like in Nassau?
sailingawaysoon Posted May 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2009 We took a water taxi over to Atlantis and got to see the aquarium. There's no charge to go inside and see the aquarium or walk around the hotel. It was really beautiful. You can take the water taxi for around $4pp or grab a taxi. We later found out that the taxis were much cheaper, I believe around $5 total (for each way). We've also gone to Ardastra Gardens. That's a little run down, but this has been several years back. There is a lot of wildlife there and they have a really good pink flamingo show....We usually ended our day w/Senor Frogs, but not sure you want the kids to go there (even though we've seen a lot of kids there). It just seemed to be a very wild spot! Have a great cruise!
BayStateguppy Posted May 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2009 I did a horse/buggy ride ($15/pp) to the pirate museum and then walked back to ship (about a mile). It ok .... just ok ..... Museum might be scary for little ones b/c it is dark. Do something @ Atlantis. Nassau is not that great. A lot of people stay on this ship for this reason. But Atlantis is very nice though pricey. crusinmama06 Posted May 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 26, 2009 I have a few things that we love to do in Nassau - 1. Atlantis, we get a room and ride/slide all day long. My review and how to do that is here... http://cruisingwithchildren.blogspot.com/2008/11/atlantis-paradise-island-bahamas.html 2. Our other fave, swimming with Stingrays at Blackbeards Cay, details here... http://cruisingwithchildren.blogspot.com/2008/09/blackbeards-cay-stingray-excursion.html
bajathree Posted May 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 26, 2009 Ardastra Gardens is run down.....I wouldn't recommend it. Go over to Atlantis and check it out....especially if you have never been there before. You can walk the lobbies....see some neat fish in the Great Hall Of Waters and gawk at some of the most expensive yachts in the Caribbean while walking around the shops and restaurants of Marina Village. There is also a more enjoyable less crowded straw market right across the street from Atlantis on Paradise Island....this is all free and will just cost you the taxi fare....it is only a 10-15 taxi ride from the port...I suggest taking a taxi to Atlantis over the VERY crowded water taxis.....and if you want a swim, right next to Atlantis is the free public beach Cabbage Beach. jtwisconsin Posted May 26, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 26, 2009 Our other fave, swimming with Stingrays at Blackbeards Cay... We did the Blackbeards Cay excursion just like Michele did. Kids enjoyed it, and we had a relaxing time on their beach later that afternoon.
Pumbaamd Posted May 27, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 27, 2009 We went to the Wyndam Resort on Cable Beach this past Sunday. The taxi fare from the pier is $6 p.p. They have a day pass deal that you buy at the main desk. It cost $40 p.p. and includes the lunch buffet which is very good. The buffet retails at $25 so you get the beach/pool privileges for $15. We did the beach and swam in the water. Excellent. There is a swim up pool bar and another bar right on the beach. The Wyndam has a huge casino there and also a small shopping area and a movie theater. The Sheraton is adjacent and also has a nice pool and beach. We spent several hours there and when we saw a thunderstorm approaching, we decided to head back to Majesty. Check it out. We enjoyed it.
