Cookie2boys Posted May 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2009 Which airlines do Carnival use for the express luggage service. Looking at booking a 1pm flight out of LAX Sunday after Thanksgiving.
momofzeke Posted May 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2009 Varies by ship. Also, not every ship has the Luggage Express available. On our Valor cruise out of Miami last year, the participating airlines were: U.S. Airways, Delta, AA, NWA, AirTran, Continental if flying out of MIA or FLL. Also available if out of FLL were: Jet Blue and United.
Cookie2boys Posted May 27, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted May 27, 2009 I will be on the Splendor. Also, is the fee $20 per bag.
Lilmatcat Posted May 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 27, 2009 I will be on the Splendor. Also, is the fee $20 per bag. I just used Express Luggage on the Glory and the Freedom. $20 per person plus you get charged on your S&S card whatever baggage fees the airline charges. You put your luggage outside your door the night before you debark and you don't see it again until you arrive at your destination airport. Saves you having to lug it out of the cruise terminal and to the airport for checkin. Was well worth the money to me (plus I saved a few tips that I would have paid for baggage handling at the pier/airport and taxi driver.) Also, your boarding pass is delivered to your stateroom (along with your airline luggage tag), so you don't have to worry about checking in for your airline. It's all handled for you. Mom2ncr Posted May 27, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 27, 2009 I just used Express Service on the Imagination in early May. All of the major US airlines participated except Southwest (Southwest refuses to have any deals with anyone like the cruise lines or Disney). The fee was $20 per person, not per bag. It was just my daughter and I and it was well worth the $40 total. We sat in a lounge until our escort came and we bypassed the line leaving the ship as well as the Customs line in the terminal. It was nice to not have to fool with it at the airport either. We only had 3 bags total so I didn't pay attention to whether or not there was a maximum on the pieces of luggage. The only drawback is you have to put your luggage out the night before.
pamp0227 Posted May 27, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 27, 2009 I've used the express luggage on NCL and one drawback is if someone has a name similiar to your name you could not do the express luggage option. It's a great service if you can use it. Especially if you have late flight.
bargainlady Posted May 28, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2009 Where do you sign up for the express luggage. I am going on the Valor June 21st, and I would be very interested in this. Thanks for any information.
Lilmatcat Posted May 28, 2009 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2009 A sign-up form gets put in your cabin. If you are interested, you take it down to Guest Services/Purser's Desk along with your flight information and passport. FYI... on my last cruise, we were returning to port on Saturday morning and we had to turn the forms in by 8 a.m. Thursday.
deepnite10 Posted May 28, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 28, 2009 South West won t do it cuz they don t charge for the first 2 bags of luggage and won t have a cruiseline charging passenger s $20 pp, pb..*just my deduction s , so don t hold me to it*..but, i sure makes sense..does nt it? :p when we fly SW..we just drop our luggage infront of the terminal where they ll check your luggage in and print your boarding pass..from there you go directly to security.. this past cruise on NCL..we did see the point of paying $20 per bag since we had 5 between the wife and I..instead we used the money to hire a towncar that loaded and unloaded the luggage for us.. It's not $20 per bag. It's $20 per person. And it's well worth it since you don't have to worry about luggage at all. You put it out in the hall the night before and next time you see it is at baggage claim when you return home. It was well worth the cost to not have to mess with it. Even with hiring a car, you still had to get your luggage through customs and then to the car. With luggage express, it's taken care of for you.
