Suggest an excursion for me and my gf!

Hey all,

I am cruising this Sunday on the Carnival Freedom w/ my gf. We will be stopping at Jamaica on our last stop and I was wondering if anyone could guide me to a fun excursion (privately or through the cruise). We are trying to save some money as oppose to doing some of the ships excursions.

I have been to Dunns Falls before and it was a lot of fun. I was thinking about the river tubing excursion and Dunns Falls; or zip lining (but I hear it's fun, but not all that fantastic).

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for any places to see or must-have souvenirs.

Thanks!

Depending on how long the Freedom is in Jamaica I would do the private tour guide & have him take you around the island stopping at what interest you. We were there in April on the Ruby Princess. I had reserved w/ Courtney Taylor based on on allt he recommendation on this site. He was great. We had him take us around the island, to Bob Marley's birth house, & then to lunch. This is what we wanted to do since we had already been to the island a few times. The price was great & he was great. You can have him take you to Dunns River then maybe some site seeing, & depending your interest garden or tubing.

Good luck

My husband and I did the Chukka 4x4 Safari tour a couple of weeks ago through the ship (docked in Montego Bay). We wanted to do YS Falls and Canopy Tour, but it was too long for the amount of time the ship was going to be in port. We loved the safari tour. Our guide was great. He took us up into the hills where we stopped at an overlook for pictures (beautiful!!). We drove through some small villages and saw little school kids running around and people selling coconuts by the side of the road. We toured an old prison hospital turned church. Then we went to see some small waterfalls and play in the river a bit. We did a minimal amount of hiking while at the river. We were just below where the canopy people were ziplining, so that was kinda neat. Then we stopped at a gift shop/snack shack for eating and shopping. But the real fun was in the guide's driving. He had us on some back roads with potholes the size of our jeep. We were bouncing around going up and down steep hills, and around hairpin curves. I swear we were up on 2 wheels once. It was a great adrenaline rush! We had a blast and would definitely recommend the tour. It's a little pricey, but you get to see a lot of Jamaica.
