Fascination Nassau and Atlantis Entrance Bands

My husband would like to take our 6yo son to Atlantis, but neither of us wants to spend the whole day there. Ideally, we would like to split up the day with me staying for a few hours and he relieving me to go shopping for a few hours. Is it possible to share the band as to not buy three bands? Has anyone ever done this. How do the bands work?
