planb Posted June 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Which is the best side of the ship to be on to see the islands? Also any other ideas or info on this cruise would be great !
califgary Posted June 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2009 We are on the 14 day LA to Hawaii Roundtrip cruise on the Golden for Christmas-New Years. On our discussion board this question has been asked - the general concensus is that the best side to be on for this Hawaii trip is the Starboard side. Specifically when you leave Hilo for Honolulu the ship heads south around the big island and if there is any lava activity going on then the starboard side of the ship would be facing the action. Elua Posted June 5, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Aloha Kakou, I just wanted to give you all a heads up, and unless things change from last season, the Golden heads north from Hilo on its way to Honolulu, not south around the bottom of the Big Island. Aloha, Dave
leoandhugh Posted June 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2009 and frankly, after doing 5 Hawaii cruises, I don't think it makes any difference. most travel between islands is at night anyhow and with the exception of Maui, you are not close enough to other islands to see much of them:)
