vowsatsea Posted June 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2009 We will be traveling to both Saint John and Halifax in August. Is there a way to get to Prince Edward Island and how would we go about doing so? We're in Saint John from 8 to 4, and Halifax from 9 to 6. Would we have enough time to do this? parker6 Posted June 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2009 unfortunately you really don't have enough time to enjoy PEI from your stops. PEI is a 3 - 3 1/2 hour drive from Halifax and about 2 1/2 from Saint John.. so if you were going to attempt it Saint John would be a better option. But really you would be very rushed and not see much of PEI at all. If you tell me what you're interested in seeing I can probably recommend similar places closer to Saint John or Halifax (unless it's Anne of Green Gables you really want to see.) jean s Posted June 8, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2009 The distance from St. John, NB to the Confederation Bridge is probably about 3 or more hours. And then when you go over the bridge it is about a 45 minute ride to Charlottetown (the capital city). It is even longer to travel from Halifax to PEI. I travel to PEI a couple of times a year and it is truely a place worth spending some time in.

It takes about three and a half hours to reach the island from either Saint John or Halifax. Take into account the time needed to rent and return a car and it is not doable. You would not have enough time. PEI is a lovely place but you would be wasting your time and quite probably missing your ship to try to visit in the time allowed. eh2zed Posted June 8, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2009 Not at all practical. PEI is a lovely place to visit. Several cruises do go there.
Loann Posted June 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2009 As everyone else said, you just can't do it! Plan a trip there another time. You can fly to Charlottetown through Boston, Toronto or Halifax from NYC.
