Grand Suite...Any information?

Recommended Posts

We will be traveling on the Explorer of the Sea next May 1, 2005 and have booked the Grand Suite. How large is the balcony? I know it says 95 sq. ft., but is it large enough for 3 people to sit out at the table and have breakfast without being squeezed in. Is the room large enough for 3 people not to run into each other every time you turn around. Any and all information would be helpful.

Thank you,
Cindi

I think you will find that you have plenty of room move around on both the balcony and in the room. We had a Grand Suite on the Mariner earlier this year. We were a family of three and found that there was tons of storage space. You'll be happy...our daughter used the pull out couch which the room steward had pulled out at night and back into a couch each morning. Even when the bed was out, there was plenty of room.

You will love the GS. I agree that you will have plenty of room for three people. If there are not robes in your cabin, just ask your steward. You will also receive canapes each afternoon. (strawberries, vegetables and dip etc.) Enjoy.

Here are some pictures of our Grand Suite on the Navigator. They're on page 2. I remember that the balcony was long, but to me it really was not very deep. The cabin itself was really nice!

Happy Cruisin!

Yes, there was a CD and DVD player complete with BOSE speakers. We had priority embarkation and debarkation, but we did not tender so that is an N/A.

We had GS on Voyager and Brilliance. There is plenty of room you definetly will not be tripping over each other. The rooms are really nice and the balcony as I remember it was big enough for 3 people to eat (it was just hubby and I and we did eat breakfast out there every morning, I don't think it would be crowded for 3). The newer ships offer concierge service with a concierge lounge, the older ships don't have the lounge... I can't speak for the Legend as I have not sailed that class in a suite, but for Explorer you will have priority embarkation/debarkation, priorty tender tickets, continental breakfast (avalaible in the lounge), pre-dinner appetizers and drinks...with and without alcohol (also in the lounge), the concierge can book your shore excursions, spa appointments and dinner at Portofinos for you (we did all this ourselves but it was avalaible to us). You receive robes in your room as well as personalized stationary. We also recieved VIP Ice Show tickets (no waiting in line and you could go to any of the shows)...the concierge has DVD's and Videos avalaible to check out as well as coffee and hot chocolate (24 hours). We really enjoyed the services provided as well as the room itself. I don't think you will be dissappointed. Again I know the rooms are pretty much the same on Explorer/Legend but I know the Legend gets less perks because there is not an actually concierge lounge.

You can also look at this web sight for 360 degree room photos of your room on your specific ship

http://www.cruisesonly.com/c/cruiseline.asp?lineid=44

Open this link and then click on your cruise ship. On the right side there is a link for Photos&Tours, click there. When that pulls up cick on 360 degree tours and then find the room and it will show you the room in 360 great web sight for getting a real feel of the room Enjoy your cruise!

We had the Grand Suite on Legend of the Seas and absolutely loved it!!! There is so much space and lots of storage. The bathroom is huge with marble every where, dual sinks and medicine cabinets. The bar area had a refrigerator and shelves with different types of glasses (wine, cocktail, etc.). We had a bottle of champagne and bowl of fresh fruit waiting for us when we arrived. We also got priorty tender passes. The balcony was good size with a small table, two chairs and a chaise lounge.

If there are any other things I can answer for you please let me know.

Thanks so much Fahywray!!

Did you have robes and was there a cd player in the room? Did you have priority embarkation at pier? First time with RCL and first 14 day cruise so I'm really excited!!!
We are in room 8206 but trying to find one on port side but then again you never know if that is the side that will dock. LOL Anything you can tell me about the room or ship(food,casino,etc)....Let me know, and thanks again for the response!! We had robes but no CD player. Our cabin steward was fantastic and got us one that we hooked up thru the TV (it belonged to one of the crew members). That may have changed as our cruise was in 2002. The "walkman" type CD players have an adapter available so that you can hook us thru TV to be able to play CD's. We did have priority embarkation as the was a "suite only" section.
Food was ok - some great, some not so great. Bread is wonderful. I don't remember too much about the casino but we did go in there on a number of occasions. On Vision however, the slots were very kind to me.
Have a wonderful cruise and if I can answer anything else please let me know.

Thank you everyone for all your input. Just booked the cabin #1584 Grand Suite. Only 358 days left. That's depressing. Oh, well, I'll have alot to look forward to. Hopefully people will start responding to my Roll Call for this cruise. It's always great to speak with people before the cruise. Last year I met about 90 people before my cruise on Summit.
