Pricing??/western med

Ok, I am having issues trying to plan a cruise in the western med for 2010. I am much surprised that there is limited amount of trips. The pricing for 10 days and over has really shot up. I was there May 2008 and the prices were much lower. Is it because of the new ships? Seven days on a cruise in the med is just too short. Are people extending and doing land trips with the cruise?

Does anyone think the prices will drop? If you look at the pricing for this 2009 September and next year there is a huge difference. With the economy in such bad condition not only here in the USA but always in Europe what is Celebrity thinking? Surely right now airfares are low, but we don't know what next year is going to bring.

your thoughts please

Thank you

All I can tell you is that when we booked our cruise a year in advance, the price was much higher than what we paid. (11 night Solstice sailed May 25)

We got a total of 3 cabin upgrades (due to price decreases so essentially "free" upgrades), plus an additional 4 $$ price decreases. Some on our roll call had even greater price decreases due to residency (specific US states)

Recommend you book what you want now...then continue to monitor prices and grab price decreases as they occur (IF it happens). We realize it is all about supply and demand....and with the bad economy we got some great deals. Will you???...no way to know. If not, you could always consider canceling.

Thank you for your input. it's is really amazing what is going on in this industry. Why in the world does Celebrity try and book the higher price then lower the price. If people see the lower price they can get a their fare lowered too. I wonder how many people actually pay the higher price? I maybe quite a few being that they play this game in the first place.
