Hi Carole!

Cabin 6363 is a balcony cabin well aft of the atrium... I don't know how they could have even HEARD the entertainers in there...

It appears to be over the casino bar area. Where the band plays.

Look who wrote it.

DISMISSED!

I have sailed with Anita in the past. She's pretty pro Carnival, not so pro Cruise Critic but pretty pro Carnival.

Those folks are beyond ridiculous. What more can they ask for? Carnival went above and beyond.

If they had noise from a house band in a hotel that was booked full would they expect to be compensated for the cost of the hotel, their meals and transportation?

Amazing... absolutely amazing...

Not sure about jerks but I think they are pretty stupid......I would have took the phone off the hook after the first call:D:p

It amazed me how call after call they would still answer in that "I am still asleep" voice. Much more satisfying than calling security

Wow...all I can say is that is ridiculous. I can understand having a family and wanting your child to be able to sleep in peace, but at what point do you come to the realization that you are just a pain in the a$$? I too think they were compensated more than fairly!

How the heck did something this goofy even merit an article being written? If the deci reading was within normal limits, they didn't deserve a single penny, and it certainly didn't warrant an article written.

It's cruise related... Anita is a travel writer who has done a TON of cruise related work.

Anything to sell the news, I guess...

Wasn't it written somewhere in the article the "atrium" they were referring to was the "12 story main atrium"? I've been sitting here, trying to figure out where music is being played that loud in the main atrium. LOL

You are right, I stand corrected... However when I was on Valor (albeit well over a year ago) the entertainment was a guitar soloist (with an acoustic guitar) I know for a fact he is no longer with Carnival, so don't know who they have playing there now, but I can't imagine it's a band... stage is too small. It's most likely another soloist, either piano or guitar.

JMO though, like I said, I was aboard Valor in Feb '08...

Slow news day???? This was on the main page of MSNBC... I guess they know whats important these days, you know the state of the economy, a pandemic going on, and a whiny entitled family that Carnival should have dropped off at the next port

That explaines it.

I have seen a band in these areas on many cruises. It happens. On the Victory last week the entire show orchestra put on a show in the casino bar area one night.

It is one of the reasons this and the disco are the first areas of the ship I avoid having my cabin over.

This guy thinks if he complains enough he will get some big bucks. Can we just send him a CD of violin music instead?

Doc:p

Sadly, this is an environment that cruise lines have created for themselves.

Someone pays $400 for a cabin on a seven day cruise and stubs his toe running around barefoot on a soaking wet Lido Deck pool area, flanked by CAUTION - Slippery when wet - signs. He complains that the cruise line is negligent and the LEAST he gets is a bottle of champagne and chocolates.

I love the fact that cruise lines are so customer centric but when have you or anyone else EVER done that with an airline?? For pities sake... you BAGS go missing forever and you get a few hundred bucks back and told you're lucky to get it.

Just think how many services could avoid being cut or restored if the lines didn't have to compensate whiners like this guy...

OK... off my soap box now...

FOO!!!

This reporter isn't too good with all the facts, or doing ALL her research. I have seen many of her articles fall apart, as well as her own cruising message board implode.

Maybe the room was misreported. 6263 is close to the atrium. 6363 is not

I am absolutely appalled. #1 I'm shocked that anyone would complain of noise on a cruise ship. HELLO..... thousands of people. #2 I'm angry that Carnival offered compensation. There was nothing to compensate. Do the Moscoes expect compensation when a baby cries on an airplane? If the music in the doctor's office isn't soothing? There are millions of ways to complain about noise. Carnival opened a can of worms with this one. Just think of all the greedy cruisers who will have their hands out now just because the room steward didn't give them their towel animal. The room service cart had a squeaky wheel or the darn ocean made me sea sick. Give me a FREAKIN break. We were on the Conquest during Hurricane Ike. We were repositioned to New Orleans and had to find a new way to get home because our car was now under 8 feet of water. Did we complain? HELL NO!!!!!! It wasn't Carnival's fault. ***** HAPPENS!!!!!! I'm so ticked off at Carnival for paying this ambulance chaser that I am going to write a letter demanding OBC because I didn't get mine..... mine, mine, mine..... GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!! PEOPLE LET'S GROW UP!!!!! Life throws us curves. It how we handle those curves that shows what we are made of. I guess Mr. Moscoe is full of ***** because he sure can shovel it out!!!!!!!!!

I am going to disagree to some extent. Carnival has cabins over very loud music venues, kitchen areas, and under scraping deck chairs. True, if you do some research, you can learn about these and avoid them. But if you are a first time cruiser, you see the commercial on tv, and then call Carnival you might get sold a 'beautiful balcony cabin, mid-ships, just above the promenade". See cabin #6363 on a Conquest class ship.

I remember when the Destiny came out there were cabins over the disco that Carnival used to discount. There are noise isses that should be dealt with honestly by the cruise lines. JMHO.

As soon as he finds out about CC he will be on here posting all about it. 1 hit wonder and he will never be heard of again.

I think if he does post here we should type all of our replies back IN ALL CAPS. Then he will leave because it is too loud here too! :D

I understand that there are rooms that will undoubtedly have noise issues. But isn't the rule, "Let the buyer beware"? Since when did we start compensating people for ignorance. And I don't mean ignorance in being rude. With any vacation there comes risk. Is the hotel room going to have bugs? Will the linens be thread barren? Will the air conditioning work properly? These are gripes that cannot be planned for in advance. Being able to hear the noise on a cruise ship is just ludicrous to me. There are deck plans on Carnival's website so that you can see exactly what your room is going to be over. There really are no excuses. I'm sorry. Carnival was wrong in compensating these spoiled people. Unfortunately, it's the stockholders who are going to pay in the end. God forbid their child not get to pick her own crayons or a new pack of crayons in Camp Carnival. Those are grounds for a multi-million dollar lawsuit. Give me a break!!!!!!
