Olwyn Posted June 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2009 Hi Everyone! We will be in Monaco on September 2nd and are looking for a tour that will show us a bit of the French Riviera (Cannes and Eze) as well as Monaco. My mom is not a big walker though, so a driving, easy walking itinerary would be best, with lunch somewhere with a great view. Has anyone done a tour like this? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks so much! Olwyn:D
vakamalua Posted June 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2009 We recently used rivierapremiumtours.com and really enjoyed our tour with Anthony. We drove down the coast and visited Antibes, Nice and then St. Paul de Vence. Just let them know exactly what you want and where you want to spend time. (We did not go to Monaco because the Grand Prix was on that weekend.)
beechfor Posted June 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2009 We used Sylvie Di Cristo (use google and you should be able to find the company she works with) and had an excellent day. She took us to Eze, Nice, Monaco and St. Paul de Vence. Friends went with a company called Revelation tours or Dream tours and had a great day with them as well. Peteymil Posted June 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2009 We used Sylvie Di Cristo (use google and you should be able to find the company she works with) and had an excellent day. She took us to Eze, Nice, Monaco and St. Paul de Vence. them as I am so glad you enjoyed Syvie. We are using her in 2 weeks, and want to follow that same itinerary. Was it hard fitting it all in? I was not sure if we could fit in St. Paul de Vence.

Olwyn Posted June 12, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Well...thanks so much! All that information is wonderful! I will send requests for quotes to all suggested. Now...another question... What was the best itinerary for the day?? My mom and I are excited to see Monaco...and all the Grimaldi sites...but I would also love to visit, Cannes, St. Tropez...maybe Eze. Is this too much to ask? What did you like and what did you not enjoy as much... My darling mom can't do too many stairs or hills...but she can pace herself and does not want to miss a thing! (She is 78 and Dad is 79) Also....did you stop for lunch at a particularly charming spot on your tour? Do tell! Thanks so much! Olwyn:D
nadalina Posted June 12, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Driving from Monte Carlo all the way to Cannes and having time to be able to really enjoy everything in between and stop for lunch would be pushing it for one day, in my opinion, and going all the way to St. Tropez and back would be next to impossible unless you didn't want to do anything but drive. Eze, Villefranche, St.-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Nice, St.-Paul-de-Vence, Antibes and Juan-les-Pins are all wonderful, not-to-be-missed places to experience, explore, shop, have lunch, and they are all before you reach Cannes. And you want to enjoy Monte Carlo, too, don't you? Believe me, I understand the 'don't want to miss anything' syndrome. I suffer from it every time I go somewhere new. Maybe next time you can choose a ship that docks in Cannes and you can go further west to St. Tropez. Have fun!!! Monaco is fabulous and this is a gorgeous area of France. sunsetme Posted June 12, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 12, 2009 I would also like to know what is a good itinerary for a 6 hour port stop in Cannes.
nadalina Posted June 12, 2009 #10 Share Posted June 12, 2009 I would also like to know what is a good itinerary for a 6 hour port stop in Cannes. Wow, see, that would be a tougher decision for me than if my ship docked in Monte Carlo because from Cannes there are great places to visit going east OR west. But, if it was my first time, I would probably head east and do Juan-les-Pins, Antibes, St.-Paul-de-Vence, Vence, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Nice, and then end up in Villefrance-sur-Mer. I don't think you could do much else in 6 hours. The on my second trip I would head west over to St. Tropez. Just my two cents.
nolaAlive Posted June 12, 2009 #11 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Another vote for Revelation and oops, I forgot her name but she was good: As for Eze, there are definitely stairs and walking involved. sailaway5 Posted June 13, 2009 #12 Share Posted June 13, 2009 I am so glad you enjoyed Syvie. We are using her in 2 weeks, and want to follow that same itinerary. Was it hard fitting it all in? I was not sure if we could fit in St. Paul de Vence. We also used Sylvie DiCristo (www.azur-guides.net) She picked us up in Cannes, had a brief stop there and drove the French Riviera to Monte Carlo. The buses take the freeway - we took the coast. It was very scenic. Saw the Grand Prix start line, the famous casino, church where Princess Grace was married and many famous people's homes along with hugh yachts & fancy cars. We had crepe's for lunch at the medieval village of Eze, which was really a highlight -- great views and interesting to wander these narrow cobblestone walkways thru this stone village. Also bought perfume here from the Fragmond Perfume store. It was a wonderful tour and recommend her highly.
Olwyn Posted June 13, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted June 13, 2009 Thank you everyone for all of your information! What a thrill it has been to look at your photos Nola!! Beautiful! You are all right...I am trying to take in too much in one day. My parents may never get back this way, so I want them to see the most picturesque and memorable parts of this area. We should be alright in Eze, because there are places to pause and rest, should it be necessary! I will save Cannes and St. Tropez for next time! Merci!
