derrick22 Posted June 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2009 I am going to Alaska next month and after doing research here I ordered a rubber lens hood to use while on the helicopter and floatplane. I received it today and when I put it on I get a black circle when I look through the lens. I have a Panasonic DMC FZ18 with a 46 mm lens. HELP! pilotdane Posted June 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2009 Wrong size lens hood. The cameras view is wide enough to see the hood. With the "proper" hood for my lenses I do not see the hood in my pictures. I have a extra long hood I use on my 24-105 lens. With this non standard hood I see it from 24 to about 28 or 30 mm. I use the longer hood because it provides more protection from raindrops but at the cost of seeing the hood when using the lens at wide angles. For this lens it shows up only in the corners. derrick22 Posted June 15, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted June 15, 2009 Wrong size lens hood. The cameras view is wide enough to see the hood. Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize there was different size rubber hoods. I guess that's what I get for ordering online. I really wish there were brick and mortar camera stores nearby. Any suggestions?
