Fireworks on 4th of July

We are thinking of booking a 4th of July cruise next year out of New Jersey. Just wondered if anyone has ever had a ship depart on this day and if you were able to view a fireworks show. Departure time looks to be around 4:00 which would seem to be too early.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

My husband and I are sailors. A few years ago, we were in our sailboat enroute from Boston to the Chesapeake Bay. On July 4, we were off the coast of New Jersey. Because the shoreline is so flat and straight, we saw about 10 fireworks displays all along the coast. We did miss the booming sound, but the colors sure were beautiful and helped make the watch go faster.

All that said, I've never experienced fireworks from a cruise ship.
