Shipboard Credit for Stock Owners

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have information about getting $200 shipboard credit if you own 100 shares in RCI stock? I would like to know if it is true before I purchase it. Does the cruise have to be a certain duration, only once a year or any other restrictions?

Love that shipboard credit.

My computer can't open your information up. I tried Adobe Acrobat and I cut and pasted but it still won't let me in. Could you give us a brief summation on the information about a shipboard credit for stockholders?

Carnival also offer's a stockholder credit for holders of 100 shares or more. Not sure what the amount of credit is but it does apply to all their lines.

So basically you pay 400 dollars to get 100 dollar shipboard credit for a 7 night cruise.

Ill save my 400 and use it for expenses on board.

Actually Nitra, the stock is a little down now but ours has more than doubled since we bought it. And it's not necessarity $100 credit. If you take a longer cruise, you get more credit. Last year we received $300 credit total and this year we are getting $350. Combine that with the credit for booking online and the total is pretty nice.

OOPS my math was wrong! 40 x 100 is 4000! No wonder they give you a little back in shipboard credits.

Just wondering, is there always some kind of discount for shareholders, or is this like the first time. Is it really worth it to pay $4000 for one shot at $100?
Thanks

Well, if you cruise fairly often (say 4x$100 per year) it is like getting 10% return even if the stock goes nowhere. Of course, if the stock does better (or worse) than typical the $400 could become meaningless.

I don't particularly like the idea of submitting a brokerage statement to get the money though. Anybody know if they'll accept a statement with areas blocked out (i.e. any other holdings and all account balances)?

I'd also like to know about the online booking credit that Frank mentioned.

FWIW, CCL is also around $40 right now too.

Dany, it's not one shot at $100 unless you only cruise once for a week. You get the credit for any cruise on RCCL or Celebrity that you book. We cruise twice a year so get it twice. And if you cruise for longer than a week you get more credit.

estebofarr and Mikesteg: you get additional onboard credit for booking a RCCl cruise while on a Rccl cruise. We always book on board. This is combinable with the stock credits and your crown and anchor coupon. So for example, for our Panama cruise we will have $250 seapass credit for the stock, $200 seapass credit for booking while on the Brilliance (for a total of $450 in seapass credit) and we also get $100 our balcony cabin for being platinum and the $200 coupon in the crown and anchor magazine. It all adds up, and we do this each cruise.

Nobody knows. Actually the current shareholders benefits expired March 2004. It has been extended to May 2005 now. So who knows if it´s renewed or extended after this. I think we all have to wait.

But however. This year I´ll get back 400$ for my two cruises wich is like an additional 10% earnings. Not bad in my eyes. And as it´s already registered I can sell the stock whenever I want.

Thanks for clearing that up. I recently moved and am not getting any of my cruiseline magazines. I forgot about the credits in the magazine. THANK YOU! I have the most recent one and will use it. Like they say, you can always sell the stock and it might go up.

Cuation from experience. Although is says "per stateroom" if you are a shareholder booking more than one stateroom, the benefit is limited to only one stateroom per sailing. I ran into this with RCL and I asked to have them alter their language as it was deceiving. The need not say per stateroom if in fact you only get one credit per sailing no matter how many staterooms you book. Unless other shareholders occupy those other staterooms you will only get one credit.

I am not against this, as I too feel the provided benefit is worth the stock investment and only wish I bought when the stock was in the 20's.

Mike, I see noone has as yet answered your question so I will. I have used this credit twice now, once on Celebrity and once for our upcoming RCI June cruise.

Yes, this do allow you to send it a blacked out, except for showing the RCI stock you hold, statement. I also shared your concerns about letting them see all my other info on my statement, so did this and got the credit last cruise and have been informed by my Cruise agent that it is waiting for me on my June cruise.

Also be aware that you will not know if it is credited beforehand as they don't send you a notification if they even received the paperwork you send them. I just call my cruise agent and have her call the cruise line to find out, prior to cruise. I don't like leaving anything to chance or having to deal with it when I get onboard.

Sheila
Likes to cruise twice as much for half the price.
