Linking the display of a passenger’s photo to their cruise card

 

A new onboard IT system will display a passenger’s photo when they use their cruise card to make a purchase at the bar, coffee shop or any retail outlet on the ship. This will enable crew to check the cardholder’s identify before completing the transaction. The technology will be introduced onto Pacific Jewel in November.

Governor-General to Launch P&O Cruises' Pacific Jewel

P&O Cruises has announced that the Governor-General of Australia, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, will officially name its latest superliner Pacific Jewel in a spectacular ceremony at Sydney’s Circular Quay on December 12.:D

What a great things P&O do for charity (some i found today)

 

 

 

In support of the Cervical Cancer Project, P&O Cruises brought some 5,000 rubber duckies along with their latest Pacific Dawn sailing to Vanuatu for the Great Duck Race.

 

The Great Duck Race this year raised more than five million vatu for the Cervical Cancer Project in Vanuatu, an initiative of Australians Helping Abroad, says P&O Cruises.

Adelaide's upgraded cruise terminal makes timely debut

The upgraded passenger terminal at Port Adelaide's Outer Harbor made its timely debut yesterday, just in time for the start of the cruise season.

 

Nearly 50,000 cruise ship passengers and crew will arrive in Adelaide's upgraded cruise ship terminal over the next five months.

 

Flinders Ports and the South Australian Government carried out the $500,000 facelift in an effort to elevate the aging terminal's standard to that of Adelaide's improved airport.

 

The revamped cruise ship terminal was reopened yesterday by Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith and Flinders Ports Chief Executive Vincent Tremaine.

 

"We will have a record 27 cruise ships arriving at Outer Harbor in the coming season, a 450% rise since 2004-09," Dr Lomax-Smith says.

 

"Late season, cruise ships gave our economy a $7.1 million boost and we're expecting an even bigger gain this season as passengers visit tourist attractions in our city and regions.:rolleyes:
