jezzdogg Posted December 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2004 We will be coming in the day before for our cruise on the Navigator to Ft Lauderdale and renting a car from Hertz. When I spoke to the people at Hertz they were clueless to the nearest drop off point, saying as far as they knew in was the Miami airport, which does not sound right. Thought maybe someone knew the nearest Hertz office to the port. Many thanks
gfleischha Posted December 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2004 Go out to the hertz.com site. There you can look at several hotel that you can drop off the car. Hertz got rid of the location at the port. You return it to the airport and they drive you back to the port. It is about a 15 minute drive. jwlane Posted December 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 18, 2004 Hertz'z own web site still shows a location at this address at the port. http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=RT_QE.p_0Tr1w3s_SdqNpVSQ927ta5VokDrkXd2kjg--&csz=miami%2C+fl&country=us&new=1&name=&qty=
Riley13 Posted December 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2004 We recently made reservations for Hertz Pier of Miami location, for both pre-cruise and post-cruise. On the website, you can do a search for locations near Miami, rather than selecting the airport location. It will bring up a long list of locations in Miami, scroll down to the bottom and you will see the Pier location. It was not "simple" to complete the on line reservation with a different drop off location of Ft Lauderdale airport, so I decided to call them to actually complete the reservation. The agent confirmed that the Pier location runs a shuttle every 15 minutes on the weekend. She said it is about 5-7 minute shuttle ride.
banderboo Posted December 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2004 We rented with enterprise for our EOS 12/5 cruise and it worked out great. You drop the car off at their pier location (it was at the Hyatt a few blocks away) and then took the shuttle over to the pier.
smeyer418 Posted December 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2004 Try to avoid either an airport pick up or drop off because you pay a exorbidant additional fee(airport recovery fee), that can add 8-10% or more. Normally not charged at a non-airport facility.
buchie614 Posted December 19, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 19, 2004 Just off the Navigator, we rented a car in ft. lauderdale from Hertz on 12-10, and returned it to Miami on 12-11, it was $50. plus a couple bucks to fill the gas tank, the location is a few minutes drive to the pier, and they will shuttle you there, make sure it is not the airport location, they do not shuttle. It worked out great for us.

KJHorton Posted December 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted December 20, 2004 We have used the SE 1st Street, Hertz local edition, I think, location a couple of times before/after our cruise. At that time, they reimbursed us for cab fare to/from the port. It is only about a 5 minute drive and very easy.
