9-year-old in Belize

We'll be in Belize City for a shore excursion stop, and will have our 9-year-old son with us.

What would you suggest as a good shore excursion for both US and our SON?

Also, we have a wheelchair-bound foster child who'll be travelling with us, but he will probably stay on the ship with a care-provider that is travelling with us, unless there are some excellent accessible tours that we could all enjoy.

Thanks for any further information.

I may be too late in answering this, but I am traveling to Belize in March with my 10 year old daughter. We are going on a jungle horseback ride through www.belizecruiseexcursions.com. Your son would probably love that. This group has a lot of the same excursions as the cruise lines, for a better price. All the reviews of the group that I've found have been good.

Have fun!

Just some info for you on the passport question. I am a Canadian citizen also, used a BC and drivers license for id when I boarded the ship. When you go into Belize all you need to take with you is your sea pass card(rccl, called different things on different lines) and picture id. We did the Lamanai Excursion, not sure a 9 year old would like the hour plus bus ride. He might enjoy cave or river tubing though. Whichever excursion you do I would advise you to take the ships excursion as it is a tender port and time can run long on the trips.

We had our granddaughters with us on our cruise in mid-December and we took the Lamanai and New Belize River excursion....it was wonderful and the kids really enjoyed it. They have studied about the rain forest and were so excited to be able to go back and share with their class about seeing it.

The boat ride on the river was very thrilling and we were able to see many of their wildlife. They took more pictures here than on any other excursion. It may not be the best for a wheel chair but it is a good excursion for a wide variety of ages.
