bajathree Posted July 2, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2009 How long is this project slated to last??? Months and months in the least....let's put it this way.....the project is so that Nassau will be able to handle Royal Caribbeans new Oasis Of The Seas that is "supposed" to start docking in Nassau beginning of Dec.....it's questionable at best if they will be ready....even if they are somehow ready by Dec there is also more to the project that is going to continue after that point....a "phase 2" if you will......I would have to assume the harbor is going to be a murky mess for a while. Phase II won't have anything to do with the water quality .. it's about building a Promenade along the waterfront. From what I understand when we toured the construction area at Arawak Cay, the way the dredging will be done today, there will be limited damage to the sea bed as opposed to the traditional dredging that was done the last time. This should help in getting the harbour back to normal in a matter of a month or two. Not 5 months like last time. Fingers crossed that is true. When I checked last week, the were not even close to finishing the pilings for the backfill at Arawak Cay.. maybe 10 out of 150 units were in place. This will delay dredging til the end of July or mid August at the earliest.

Sounds like there is no way that Nassau is going to be ready for Oasis by Dec....I bet Labadee is going to takes it's place for the early sailings.
