hoz321 Posted July 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2009 We are looking for a hotel/small inn in San Juan for 1 night before our cruise in Feb. 2010. I would prefer to stay on or near the beach rather than in Old San Juan. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
Dave&Robin Posted July 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2009 I'm looking for somewhere as well.....I saw The Caribe Hilton which looks nice and has a small private beach. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how far it is from the Pan Am Pier?
panamatiger Posted July 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2009 We are looking for a hotel/small inn in San Juan for 1 night before our cruise in Feb. 2010. I would prefer to stay on or near the beach rather than in Old San Juan. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance! Here's a review of El Canario by the Sea we did for Trip Advisor We really want to give this small family run hotel a good review. We booked the El Canario by the Sea as a pre-cruise day/night. The other reviews were slightly mixed but we gave The El Canario a try. You have to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, and to the cruise ship, or into Old San Juan for the night. Since we wanted to just hang out at the beach, no problem. We knew that a head of time. The taxi stand is right outside the hotel. Right up the street at the next parallel intersection is the GreenHouse Cafe and the Latin Star. Great little places for dinner. Starbucks is also a block away. The hotel is a corner walk to the beach. All beaches in Puerto Rico are public and free. Its the same beach as the Marriot for 1/3rd the price. You cant see the beach from your room because the Hotel's neighbor is a condo complex but that doesnt matter. The room and hotel was very clean. The staff was very friendly. The room we had was about the size of a cruise ship cabin, so for one night it didn't matter. The A/C worked well and there were no insects. The elevator is an old style Otis with just enough room for two and your luggage. It's just a little tight. We had the continental breakfast befor catching our cruise ship.We recommend this for one or two days and be prepared for using taxis. We would stay there again panamatiger (garry + pauline)
