blackbeards cay OR Wyndhym/ Sheraton

Can anyone tell me the advantages or disadvantages of one over the other? We will be in Nassau on Thursday, July 17. It will be me and my 13 year old daughter. We are looking for safe, clean, beautiful beach, not too crowded, food, drinks for mom, maybe a few floats and hammocks.

I liked the Blue Lagoon concept, but found it was closed on Thursdays. I have read mixed reviews of Blackbeards cay.

Anyone offer a comparison of Wyndham day pass and Blackbeards?

thanks!

Still haven't made up my mind. i like the idea of the "private island" concept of Blackbeards Cay, but i keep reading (on several different websites) about the horrible sand flea problem.

Definitely do the Wyndham and Sheraton!! We were there June 30th and spent the entire day there. For $40, you get a whole lot- you can use pools/water slides at both hotels, beach/lagoon area at both, and use of non-motorized water toys (kayaks, water bikes, floats, etc.) at the Sheraton. Both hotels are beautiful. The pass also includes a buffet lunch until 2 p.m., which has a lot of delicious options.

The Wyndham also has the Crystal Palace Casino which was nice. There was never a problem getting a lounge chair at any pool. Wyndham's pool is nice. There is only 1 pool (completely in the sun) but it has a waterfall, water slide, swim up bar, and island in the middle.

The Sheraton has several pools, some with shade and with waterfalls and swim up bar. I recommend going on the Sheraton side if you want to go on the beach- Wyndham's area is more of a lagoon and not many chairs.

Have fun!

I like the Sheraton idea! Is it $40 per person, including the buffet? That is not to bad. Do you have to provide your own transportation to the hotel? Water taxi or land taxi?

Thanks for the info

It's $40 per person, including the buffet (which is at the Wyndham, not the Sheraton). They give you a wristband to wear for the day, but I doubt anyone even noticed ours. I'm not sure about the cost for children, you would probably have to either email them or call. You have to buy the pass at the Wyndham, but can walk right over to the Sheraton.

We took a land taxi right from the pier which we felt was a little bit expensive, $15 for 2 people plus tip- but our driver did forewarn us that if we waited until the taxi filled up it would be cheaper. We didn't want to waste a second though!! I think the water taxi only goes to Paradise Island (Atlantis, etc.) and is $6 pp.

Also, you can take the #10 Jitney right to the hotel for $1.25. It stops all over the island and leaves from Bay Street, near the port I believe. I have seen many posts about this on this board, but I get nervous easily and decided just to take a cab! I'm sure if you look through this board you will find more info.

Hope this helps!
