Ice Rink LOS Age Restrictions?

Hi everyone

 

Just wondered what is the minimum age that a child can use the ice rink/ hire ice skates?

The smallest skate size they give out are a children's size 2--that's US sizes. So if your child has smaller feet, then there's no skating available.

I think it is 3,we had our own skates.

Are they boot style skates? Do they fit true to shoe size?

 

My 5 year old son is currently wearing size 12.5 US shoes and his hockey style skates are size 10(a bit tight).

 

If they fit true to shoe size, one size larger would be fine if we just layered some socks on him. We are not going til August.

 

We are flying, so packing light is important.

Bear with me here.... "child size 2"... DS is 3 years old and wears a size 5/6.

 

As silly as it sounds, I am going to ask.... Is a toddler shoe size 5/6 bigger than a child size 2?

 

(You know how kids clothes go "up to" one size and then switch back to smaller sizes once they hit teens...do shoes sizes do that too?)

 

Will my DS be able to skate?

My son was 4.5 years old, wearing a toddler size 9 shoe, and went skating. They had small skates there.

My daughter was 4 on the LOS, Nov '08

 

Unfortunately, my wife knows what her shoe size is, I don't.

The equipment is RCCL's.
