Disneyworld Posted July 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2009 We leave on Tuesday, July 7th for our b2b Carnival Spirit cruises. Yesterday, we received an email from US Airways saying that on the day of disembarkation of our southbound cruise (the final leg), our flight was changed from 12:50 pm to 8 am!!!! Of course that is impossible for us to make considering our ship docks at 8 am. After 4 hrs. of back and forth, and many details that I won't bore anyone with, we actually are adding a day to our trip. Instead of leaving on the 22nd, we stay over one night in Vancouver on the 22nd and leave early in the am of the 23rd. This is a blessing in disguise since thru these threads, we learned about the fireworks competition that start on 22nd at 10 pm, we thought about changing our flight so that we could stay the extra night to see this, but would've had to pay too much in penalties. Now, because they made the change, we are able to stay for the fireworks, without penalty and add a day to our vacation and not worry about making the flight on time just after the cruise, etc. Providence certainly works in mysterious ways!! But this still caused anxiety on our part so close to our leaving, so periodically, check on your flights just in case you encounter this problem. vivian02 Posted July 5, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2009 Glad to see you were informed of the flight change before leaving on your cruise. These things happen and sometimes it works out for the better. I had to stay an extra day in Atlanta last year do to a flight change and it was well worth paying for a nice hotel before the final flight home. No use in stressing after a nice vacation. Disneyworld Posted July 5, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted July 5, 2009 I spoke to someone else today who had a similar issue, not for a cruise though. It was for a return flight and family members were still at home and informed the travelers. So please everyone check your flights even if they are a few weeks from now. McDebbie Posted July 5, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 5, 2009 We've already gotten the first of what will probably be many flight change notices from Delta. But thanks for the reminder to check ourselves before we leave. too bad ours keep leaving later instead of earlier.
