cowboygene Posted July 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Could not locate this ship on the RCL website. Is it no longer in service?
dixieva Posted July 7, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2009 It's no longer in the RCI fleet. I think they sold it to another cruise line not in the U.S.
ken_nyc Posted July 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2009 On 23 March 2007 it was reported that in March 2008 the Empress of the Seas would be transferred to the fleet of RCI's subsidiary Pullmantur Cruises. Her final voyage for Royal Caribbean took place on 7 March 2008. The maiden voyage as Empress for Pullmantur Cruises took place on 15 March 2008. browneyes7 Posted July 7, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2009 I think we were on its last cruise. We took an 11 day Southern Caribbean out of San Juan, Puerto Rico!
geojobes Posted July 7, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2009 She sure was & IS a beautiful little ship & is missed by many. Glad she's still in service somewhere.
cruisegal96 Posted July 7, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Empress was sold & no longer in the RCL fleet. It was a wonderful small ship. Our first cruise was on it in 1997 as the Nordic Empress. Our first taste of cruising that became our favorite vacation & we have been on five others since that time. We will miss our Empress.
Alexis Posted July 9, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 9, 2009 RCCL owns the Spanish Pullmantur Line so she really is still around. That was my favorite RCCL ship and we were lucky enough to sail her twice. I wish they would have another her size to do the same itineraries. Dock in every port and cruise right up the middle of Curacao. :D For those of you who cruise the Southern Caribbean you might be lucky enough to see her around Margarita Island and elsewhere. Pumbaamd Posted July 9, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 9, 2009 We sailed on her from Miami, Christmas 1994 when she was Nordic Empress. And again, two more times. The last being from Philadelphia PA in 2007. She was truly a one of a kind. Hope to sea her again on one of our future cruises.
