Snorkeling Excursion Question_Grand Cayman

Counting the days....we have booked the submarine excursion on Grand Cayman, and we'd like to find a place to snorkel on our own after the submarine ride. Have any of you ever snorkeled on your own in on Grand Cayman? If so, where did you go? Would you recommend snorkeling on your own in that area? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

From what I have seen there is some beautiful snorkeling in the Cayman Island. Unfortunatly, I don't know if or how much is excessable from land. Snorkeling at Grand Cayman is something we have been thinking about if we make it back to the island. Good Luck.

Eden Rock is the place to go. When you get off the tenders it is a block or 2 to your right. It's free, you can use your own gear or there is a place to rent gear/lockers there. It's not a beach, just steps down into the water. Very beautiful and easy to do

Just went to Eden rock on our 6/28 cruise..loved it not too deep and there are lifeguards there to help you in and out of the water. If you are renting equipment you may be able to haggle with the people who work there for the stuff..we ended up paying $50 for two people for everything...mask, fins, vest.....and when we were leaving someone got him down to $30 for all of that. So be cautious about that..otherwise we loved it.

Thanks...it sounds and looks awesome.... I "googled" and found some pictures. We are traveling with kids ages 6-14. Are there any age restrictions? All are strong swimmers.

Just want to second (or fourth) Eden Rock. But go to the real Eden Rock, not the restaurant/beach club that's right before it. At the real Eden Rock, there were no life guards to help you in and out or anything. And we only had to pay $15 pp for all the gear rental for a full day. You can rent it and snorkel as much as you want. The reef is right there, and it's great snorkeling. We even followed around a sea turtle for a while and saw some sting rays.

Great to know...I'm sure I would have stopped at the wrong place!
