Just off Triumph today (7/13/09) NY to St John NB. Arrived at Pier 90 last Thurs.at 11:45 and immediately went up to 3rd level parking (with my scooter in tow. )I was afraid to be dropped off in front of terminal in case my travel companion got lost! Embarkation was a breeze. Porter took our bags and we took the freight elevator down to Level 2 to board. The staff helped me right thru and boarded by 12:15. Had lunch at Lido then immediately went to London Dining Rm to get a table for 2 due to my scooter. Got a lovely table in corner next to window. Around 2pm went to room and phoned Spa to get an appt for Friday. We then explored ship during sailaway. Dinner at six- had flat iron steak-it was juicy and tender and Japanese shrimp.both were delish. Welcome show was all comedy skits. Show was Okay, but if you skip it you are not missing a whole lot. Lots of drunk cruiser jokes., Weather was mostly sunny and 70's , but wind on board is brutal. Be sure to bring some long pants and heavy sweatshirt as well as shorts! The Carnival staff are very friendly and helpful. If you need assistance carrying food in a wheelchair, they will carry it or get it for you. ASK. There are also designated handicapped tables in the Lido. The beds and bedding are extremely comforatble , but MAJOR THING to know.. we were freezing cold with a/c first night but could not find a thermostat. The round disc on ceiling is the a/c , there is a small blue line on it which you can turn to adjust the temperature. Another HINT: the elevators take forever to come. So if one becomes available going a diffrent direction..TAKE IT ANYWAY. Half the time it will still go directly to your floor if no one is in it., and if not, at least you will get to your floor much quicker then waiting around. First sea day and st Martin/bay of Fundy tour details next! Taking a nap right now!!

Dot, Hope you have a great trip on Sat. We had calm seas. It was sunny and 75 in Canada, which they say is as hot as it gets! First nite at sea is elegant nite. We wore fancy blouse and pants, a few had gowns on. The Captains reception is at 5:00 and you get a free drink. In the am, you can play minigolf, swim, take the waterslide (its closed if windy), go to gym and spa. theres a shore tour lecture at 11:00. There is a cool video game room in an underground like cave. At noon, we loved the hamburgers and fries, the pizza is also delish. There is only 2 shops wth not much for sale other than watches, expensive jewerly and liquor. We really preferred most meals in the dining room where it was quiet and had elegant service. Service was fairly quick and did not delay our plans. There are a few quiet places to hide out like the washington library, oxford bar and second level of lido deck up stairs from dessert bar. there is a good show in the rome lounge at 8:30 and again at 10:30. There were also 2 r rated comedy shows. The outside theater showed Wall-E at 9:30 pm. We braved the cold wind and watched the movie. Free in cabin movies were bride wars, benjamin button and space chimps. We arrived at st john the next day at 8am. We took an enjoyable st martin bay of fundy tour as we were eager to go to the sea caves about 1 hr from St John. At low tide you can walk on the ocean floor and enter the sea caves before the ocean rises and fills the caves with several stories of water! at the caves we were taken to a little restaurant on the bay which served fabulous chowder, pasta fasuli or chicken fingers. We were also able to see the reversing falls where the river collides with the ocean tides. On the way back you stop at the city market before returning to the ship. To be continued.. any questions?
