Please can you help. I have read the forums and it appears that P and O are ok if you take drink on board but today I was speaking to my sister ans she says her friend has just come back from a P and O cruise and their are very tight on bringing drink on board!! Does anyone who has recently sailed know-- dont want to get my drink confiscated-- thanks

Have done several P & O cruises and have always taken a couple of bottles on board (champagne etc) and have never had a problem. Cases & cases of booze may present a different problem however!!! A sensible amount should be OK to drink in cabin/on balcony/quiet area of deck. Glasses are provided in your cabin by the way.

Not a problem providing as has been said you are not wheeling cases of it aboard! We have always taken some champagne and spirits in our hand luggage at Southampton. P&O's brochure says that you may take alcohol on board but that they reserve the right to confiscate it if it is obvious that the passenger is intoxicated.

Ask your sister to explain a bit more, did she read the rules and abide to the letter or did she actually see anyone have drink taken away from them on embarkation?

Pando are very flexible about this as long as its not abused, as others said, I take a wine box (the 3l type with a tap ) as its ideal for a 2week + cruise, as its small, compact and unbreakable and fits in the fridge. We use it for balcony drinking only ,if you take wine into the restaurant you pay a corkage fee so not worth doing unless you take a really good bottle in or champagne.
