Marylis Posted December 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2004 A while back someone was posting live from the PG, and mentioned that he had talked to some RSSC bigwigs and learned that a deal was in the offing to keep the PG in the RSSC fleet thru 2006 and possibly beyond. Has anyone heard anything more on that? I'm particularly wondering if TA's or people with connections to RSSC brass have heard similar rumblings... dougburns Posted December 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2004 Not so! PG is gone from the RSSC fleet at the end of '05. My understanding is that the new owners are moving it to South America.
Leejnd4 Posted December 21, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2004 I saw a website yesterday that seemed to be selling off suites on the PG as apartments! Anyone heard of that? LeeAnne
der93711 Posted December 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2004 This information just came across the news today. Home > News > Surprise! RSSC Has Holiday Gift for Gauguin Fans Find Advanced Search Email This Print This Newsletter December 21, 2004 Surprise! RSSC Has Holiday Gift for Gauguin Fans Fans of Radisson Seven Seas Cruises' much-beloved Paul Gauguin, which cruises French Polynesia year-round, will be heartened to know that the ship will now be managed by the cruise line through 2006. The 18,800-ton, 320-passenger ship will continue sailing its Tahiti-based cruises until then. That contradicts an announcement made in September that RSSC would relinquish the ship as of early January 2006. That's because the cruise line, which has managed Paul Gauguin's onboard operations since its launch in 1997 (but had never owned the ship), was told by the vessel's owners that it had been sold to two travel operators. Grand Circle Corporation and Vantage Deluxe World Travel had planned to rename Paul Gauguin and deploy the ship on a range of itineraries from South America to the Baltic Sea. They'll still take ownership, but will allow RSSC to continue its operations for another year. RSSC has not yet announced the new arrangement. Check back, as we'll provide updates shortly. I hope this makes many of us happy. We just returned from the Paul Gauguin two days ago and had a fantastic time (with some problems). Would return in a heartbeat.
