cruisingchic Posted December 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2004 G.CAYMAN - POST HURRICANE? A friend of mine has just returned from visiting Grand Cayman, she says that 7-mile beach is looking very sorry for itself and there aren't any palm trees left. Anybody else just returned with any information please? This will be bad news if the above is true as this is one place where it isn't necessary to book any tours as the beach and town are amazing, in my opinion, anyway! Zeno Posted December 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2004 I just got back from GC (Dec 18). There are still palm trees but most of them have lost a lot of their foliage. Unless fully foliaged palm trees are essential to your beach experience, Seven mile beach is fine. Leaves have re-appeared on the sea-grape trees and others. The sand is still soft and white and the ocean blue. Many of the beach bars and restaurants have re-opened. Can you tell they recently experienced a hurricane - of course - lots of repair work is still going on. Is the island a mess - not in my opinion - everywhere you see evidence of things being cleaned up and repaired.
