Televisions on the Serenade

I know we're on a cruise and T.V. shouldn't be

important but, my DS age 14 loves his Playstation two. He would like to bring it to play on cool at sea days in Alaska as well as at night sometimes. Does anyone know if there are A.v. inputs on the television for the Playstation? Thanks!

It depends on what you mean by A/V connections. There is a coaxial connection in the back, but no RCA-style jacks. More importantly, have your kid leave the PS2 at home. If he wants to play it that badly, let him stay home. He's going to alaska for crying out loud. If I'd tried to take my Nintendo on a cruise when I was that age, my Mom would have killed me!

I don't need a lecture as to what my son should bring. His PS2 playtime would be controlled and would not interfere with excursions or family time. He has as much right to play PS2 as an adult has to going to the casino. Everyone should be able to enjoy themselves on vacation. Does anyone know if he can hook up his PS2?

Like I said before, the televisions used on the Serenade have only a coaxial connection ("F" type jack). So, the cables that come with your son's PS2 will not be able to plug into the television. I'm sure that there are a number of companies out there that make a special cable that goes from the PS2 to a coaxial output. It is known colloquially as an "RF adaptor."

 

I would caution you against going this route, however, as the televisions are interactive TVs, and using this cable may interfere or damage the aforementioned hardware. If you would have actually read my original post, you'd note that I said "There is a coaxial connection in the back, but no RCA-style jacks."

 

I wasn't lecturing you on how to raise your child. I was, however, offering my opinion, which you could accept or deny without being snippy, especially after I answered your question and you ignored my answer.

 

I have a lot more to say, but for a change I'm going to restrain myself. If you need any further information, please ask.
