Fairfield Inn Miami Aiprort - West Doral

I haven't stayed at that hotel but I can tell you that Doral is a newer, upscale sort of community close to Fla turnpike, and there are several shopping plazas and restaraunts nearby. The world reknown Doral Resort is right down the street. I work in that area all the time and can assure you it's a good area, although more suburban like than "miami" like. Its also a relatively newer hotel, I've stated at these hotels in other cities and never had any complaints. Menina

Has anyone ever stayed at this hotel pre-cruise?

They are offering free shuttle to the Port of Miami.

Hi SuzyQ,

My husband and I will be staying at Marriot Courtyard West in Doral. You can get a pkg. deal online with them that includes airport pick-up,cruiseport drop off, breakfast for 2 and 2 drinks. It's called a pre-cruise pkg.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!

Basically checked in and out in 5 minutes on February 12th, the night before our cruise. This hotel should not even carry the Marriott name! It was in a state of disrepair, the rooms were musty and smelled awful :( There is a Marriott Courtyard directly next door which is where we ended up staying.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn Miami Airport-West pre-cruise last April and found it to be very nice, very clean, and very family-friendly. We had used Marriott points for the room so it was "free" and we also got a nice upgrade to a higher end room once we arrived. It was in a nice area and we walked to a nearby shopping area to kill time and grab a bite to eat. The pool area was nice and the service was very friendly. We had a lovely, complimentary breakfast the following morning and we used the free shuttle to our cruise ship and that was very efficient as well. I guess it is possible that it has gone down hill over the past year. That is really ashamed as it use to be a very nice place! :(

The hotel is nothing like you described.

I was there last week and it was a nightmare with the place in dis-repair and old musty smelling rooms.....

If you are brave, then take your chances, or you can heed my advice

I wonder if the hotel suffered some damage in all the devastating storms that passed through Florida in August/September? What you are describing is so far removed from what we experienced last year that something had to have happened. I am surprised Marriott has allowed it to remain in this condition if that is what happened. Perhaps they are about to do a refurbishment? We can hope anyway ;) I definitely would not want to stay there in it's current condition! Last year it was just perfect for a pre-cruise stay.
