Help with room choice-portside or starboard?

We had a port side cabin this past March. We had to be up on deck to see the lava flow, but had a wonderful view of the Napali coast from our balcony. It was wonderful. Of course, when in port you just have a view of the port building. I wouldn't change it though if I had it to do again.

for the POA, go portside because of the Napoli coast. it is breathtaking. and, portside gets the full slow view. the captain does make a u-turn at the end of the Napoli Coast so the starboard side sees it but the boat is speeding on out to get back to oahu when this happens. the lava flow is best on the upper decks. when you are in port, the portside view is less than stellar, as you are looking at the dock and generally older buildings, and see people getting on or off the boat. the startboard side has the better view in port as they see the water.

You might want to consider an aft balcony at the very back of the ship. After reading so many good reviews of these rooms, I was able to change to one of these cabins. This way, you get the view on both sides. Can't give a review of my own yet, as we don't go until September :).
